I've used this pants on both cold and warmer days. For warmer days I just open the zippers located knee high to let some air go in. For colder days just close them and you're set. I've only once needed to wear other pants underneath and it was a -9F day. I also like riding by the trees and tend to fall and slide, second season with me and the pants have no marks.

I am gonna say XL for your height, but L for your weight. Go figure. Best bet though, IMO, is to hit up the XL's and snag a belt. If all else fails you can always send em back, no questions asked!

Hey all ,
Just wondering if medium...

Hey all ,
Just wondering if medium would be the best size for me ? I'm 5"10 and about about 73 kgs ? A bit baggy would be sweet as !

Cheers

I have been riding for over 10 years and have gone through Burton, Rome, DC, and a few other brand snowboard pant and the 686 Manual's KILL them all. I couldn't be more pleased, in fact im stoked just thinking about them. They are light weight, soft material, yet they have withstood multiple tree branch snags, and rail falls. I have worn these in some extreme conditions, and in swamp ass weather. They kept me comfortable in all situations. The leg vents are huge, and on the inside which is a plus when your junk needs to breath on those spring park days. The bottom of the legs are perfect if you like to put your cuffs over the binding back, yet they button down smaller so you arent dragging them on the ground wile walking through the town. Basically, once these die on me, Im buying another.

Got these in the Gun Metal Denim and the look sick. They are baggy but not as baggy as other 686 gear. I have used them twice this season once on a 15 degree day and once on a 40 degree day. They kept me warm on the cold day and the vents allowed me to stay cool on the warmer day. They are also super sturdy, and I can see having these for a few seasons. I'm 5'8" and about 185 and i bought these in a large and they fit great. I highly recommend.

Spent about five days so far in these pants. I think they're great for the price, they seem well constructed, durable and have good waterproofing. Even during single digit days I didn't need anything but the skivvies underneath. They seem to fit true to the sizing chart provided - I'm 5'9", 150 and went with the medium because I wanted a baggier fit. Check the picture I added. I went with the dark teal denim color and the product pictures here are really close on the actual color.

My gripes are few and small. The leg vents are really low, the go from about shin to knee so there's not a lot of flow for the boys. The cargo pockets have a button and small piece of velcro but no zipper so it may be possible for the hardware to fall out.

All-in-all, great pants. I like them better than any pair of Burton's that I've owned, including some Gore-tex AKs.

Great for cold days

Hey,

I'm 5'10" and 160 lbs. I'm trying to track down these 686 Militant pants in the dark teal color in a size small. I wear a 31" inch waist, 31" length pants. Think a size small will work well? I'm trying to avoid baggy pants...

I just got these in the mail with the gunmetal color and they look pretty sick! The pockets seem like they will keep you from losin all your shit when you eat shit. They stay true to size...I'm a skinny 6'5" guy and I normally wear XL pants so that they are long enough....these are way bigger in the waist but nothing a belt can't fix. Good pants I think I'm gonna like 'em!

Great pants. Fit is normal, not too baggy, not ball-huggers. Crazy right? Lots of storage, and all the closures seal really well so you won't wind up with a pocketful of powder.

I'm 5'8" 160. what size would fit, not tight and not super baggy. I also have the caramel 686 smarty rise above jacket, love it. should i go with stright black, black stitch plaid, or the gunmetal denim?

Sounds like you would fit a MEDIUM. Does your jacket have stripes or is it a solid color? If striped, go with a solid-colored pants. If solid color, go with the plaid pants.

I have ridden with and without a base layer and the pants are warm enough without yet not overwarm with...I am 5'10" and got the Large and they fit perfect, not overly baggy and not at all tight...just right! I am psyched to have such a reasonably priced pair of pants...will look to 686 in the future...

How dry will these pants keep you? I fall down alot and I was wondering if they would keep me completely dry?

you should be ok with these. 10 K waterproofing is pretty good. If you want guaranteed waterproofing get some gore tex pants, not a drop of water gets through them

Yeah, these keep you pretty dry, but they aren't GoreTex good . . . but they aren't GoreTex expensive either.

These pants are awesome! Best pair that I currently own. Im 5ft11 and weight 210. Bought XL and they fit perfectly (love them baggy) They are extremely warm. Went on the mountain and it was cold outside. Wore nothing underneath and i was nice and toasty! I actually had to open the slits to cool off. I have nothing but good things to say about these pants!! Put them in your arsenal!

I went for the black stitch plaid and I'm speechless!! So stylish I could wear 'em in the supermarket. 6ft about 180 pounds and the large fit fantastic. Pockets everywhere and really warm. Haven't been on the slopes yet though to try with/without thermals.

Me thinks 686 have a fan for life...

and dogfunk - awesome as always. No one in the US can match your shipping to Australia!!!
