The 686 Men's Plasma Pant provides cold weather protection for your entire season. When it gets super-cold you might want to go with your heavier long underwear, and warm spring days are great for free-balling, but the Plasma will be right there every step of the way. The Plasma also boasts tons of pocket space and a huge 20K waterproof rating, so you'll be set all winter.
- Fabric with fully-taped seams prevents seams from leaking
- Brushed poly lining is soft to the touch
- Water-resistant thigh pocket zipper for added protection from the snow
- Polyester mesh lining promotes airflow to help your body regulate temperature

Unlike 686 Smarty, these Plexus pants are true to size (I wear a large in most pants, including Plexus, but wear a medium in Smarty). Plexus are also tailored (tighter) fit, but not enough to restrict movement. I can still wear my padded shorts underneath the plasma.
The fabric on the plasma is somewhat thin compared to most other brands, but that also helps make them very lightweight (tailored fit removes some fabric weight as well). Upgrading my outerwear from Sessions to 686 has helped me drop several pounds from my equipment.
Plenty of tech features (waterproof, breathability, vents, powder skirt loops, etc) make them worth the price. I love they don't have big flaps on the pockets (I hate it when flaps ice up in powder and I have to chip it off to drive home).
The houndstooth is subtle...too subtle, imo. I like some kind of contrasty print or pattern on all my outerwear and these are closer to just wearing plain grey pants.
These plasma pants go well with plexus shell jackets because wearing a baggy jacket with skinny pants (and vice-versa) looks strange.
Slim Fit Ski Pants
Am a skier. Wanted a slim fit pant with some interesting color. 686 delivered. The Plexus Plasma Pants breathe well but are warm. Mesh vents keep powder out. Tons of pockets. Taped seems are water tight. The green houndstooth (Kelly Heathered) looks sweet.
I'm 6'4" ~200 lbs. Usually wear 33x34 pant size. Size Large fits great.
Sweet, Sweet Pants
i had a pair of burton ronins that i didn't really want to part with. they were good pants. comfy and dry. but they were ridiculously wide. i looked like a candy raver from 1997. so i broke down and bought these "tailor" fit pants.
i'm 5'11", 170lbs, i usually wear 34" pants. these fit perfect. big enough to move around freely, small enough to look like pants.
they breathe great, they stayed dry when it hit the mid/upper 40's. quality feels good, good seams, zippers and overall build. perfect pants!
These pants seem great, love the kelly green color. Be warned they don't fit the same as the smarty cargo pants. I've got a pair of mediums of the smarty cargos from a couple years ago which are on the baggy side and the medium in these pants are uncomfortably tight on the waist and the legs seem a touch too tight to be functional for any higher stepping while hiking. Just ordered a large, I imagine that'll fit better.
I just got the jacket and I love the materials and make of that, the pants seem to match. Looking forward to trying these out but I'm sure they'll be great.
ultra-light super water-proof pants...a lil baggier than i thought, but still a GREAT fit. ive had zero issues with these pants and im already 40days deep in the rockies with 'em. throw on some woolies underneath and your set for whatever the cold brings. the houndstooth pattern is super subtle so dont let that deter ya! leaking steeze all ova the mountains...
