How's the fit on this puppy? I'm a small dude (5'6, 140) and I'm not a huge fan of the baggy look. If I get the small is it still going to swallow me? I know 686 usually runs bigger. Thanks!

not happy

How does this jacket go for durability?

How does this jacket go for durability?

Well as you can read from the reviews, its a sick jacket. The durablilty of 686 is pretty unmatched. They dont need to use gore or any crazy material that will cost you 1 week of of bringin tp to peeps for whisky jacks lol. And the tech on this jacket is at the highest levels. Liner + vest, ummm yes please. Keeps you suuuper toasty warm and never lets water in. Ive owned this jacket, but a few years ago model, and its still kickin. Barely any frays, absolutely NO rips or tears, and still looks like the day I picked it up. You really cant go wrong with 686, they just make quality product for a decent price. Hope this helps brotha

Rock it all season

This jacket is awesome you can wear it pretty much all season thanking to the zip in/out layering pieces. I never really used the track jacket but i like the vest for colder days. It also has tons of pockets to stash all your stuff.

Poor Quality/Durability

Just Returned it to BC…..Loved everything about this jacket except for the durability. I only had 2 days on the mountain in this jacket, and my first run in the trees had ripped off the 686 shoulder badge, leaving 3 stud holes going right through the shell. The shell material itself did a great job of keeping me dry (one of the 2 days was in the rain), but is very thin and prone to rips, snags and abrasions. Great jacket if you stay in the park and wide-open groomers all day, but not your best bet for a durable, out of bounds piece. The zip-in fleece was also nice and warm but quickly showed popped stitches on the cuff and the exterior was starting to pill-up.

The fit was great. I am 6’1” 210 and I got the medium which had more of a conservative fit - Torso and arms were perfect length… The lowest temp I wore it in was about 25 degrees, and only had the fleece under it with a light base layer – Very warm and dry. Layering options would allow it to be a great year round jacket even in the northeast.

I am personally all about gear that can hold up to whatever I put it through. Lots of people said 686 makes some bomber gear, but I guess it didn’t pass my test. Hopefully 686 can do some homework this summer and come up with some burly fabrics for ‘11 that can take a pounding.

686 uses a button tab/system to integrate their powder skirts to their pants.

Great Jacket

even though this is in the 3 in 1 category, this jacket is realy 4 because both liners zip in at the same time, one at a time, or not at all. it has great pockets for carrying electronics (cell, mp3 player, etc). i have used it on a few cold windy days with only the long sleeve fleece zipped in and a base layer and was pretty comfortable while at breck. the only downside in the mobile specific pocket above the goggle pocket can fit an ipod or cell phone, it does not work well with headphones/earbuds plugged in (the google pocket works well for your ipod since it has a wire port to the inside of the jacket with easy access to change tracks while on the lift).

What's the sizing like on these jackets?...

What's the sizing like on these jackets? I'm 5'7ish and aboput 38.5" round the chest. Should I get the small or medium. My current Sessions jacket is a medium, but I think another 686 I had was a small.

Responded on

686 usually runs a little bigger than most. If you want it baggier I would go for a Medium, but if you want it a lil tighter than def a Small. If you get the small it wont be suuuper snug, but the medium will give you a lil more room to play with

Can't go wrong with 686 outerwear

Just simply top of the line... You can't go wrong with anything 686 and their 3 in 1 tech is the best (and I am pretty sure they were one of the first companies with it...if not, their the best with it!)... Just spend the extra cash and have a jacket for every situation from coldest days to last day of the season...

all around jacket

took this jacket to the mountain this past weekend and i can already tell this will be my go-to jacket all year long. tons of pockets, zip out liners (fleece and a vest), pit zips that keep you cool, and it will no doubt keep me dry in any conditions. the color in the image for the cyan is exact, so no worries there.

love it, fo sho

just got this jacket in the mail. absolutely sick! TONS of pockets. the 3-1 is out of this world. You essentially have 6 jackets in 1! You can rock the inside liners separately or combined with the jacket in tons of ways.
The detailing is sick.
RECCO tech is sick.
Wrist gaiters are blowing my mind! so stoked to use this jacket for everything! I got it in yellow and its super vibrant.
get it!
