Wish I could wear them to bed....

These pants are the bomb. Not only do they have plenty of pockets, a warm removable liner, vents, durable construction..... they are bloody comfortable. I reckon I am skiing 17 % better now that I have these pants. They handle moguls, like going off piste, like going off to get pissed and don't mind helping little old ladies get on the chair lift.

Buy them from BC.

sick pants

these are sweet pants , they feel nice and sturdy without being too heavy and the material has a nice feel, super comfy and warm even without the liner. im 5'8 165lbs and i got the large for a good "skater" sort of baggyness without being too big and clown like , and just draw them in with a belt a little bit , they have a sort of articulated knee which keeps them from puffing out too much . they look and feel sick ,id recomend them for sure .

Awesome Pants

Awesome Pants. Lots of pockets, removable liner and vents in the right spots. They seems to be well made. Only problem is that they are big. I hover between a medium and large in most pants, so I opted for the large as tight is apparently not cool (according to the groms). I will have to return them - from Australia -and get a medium.

Responded on

Hey mate how big are you? I'm also from oz, 6'0 and 83kgs and a bit unsure on sizes... I was thinking medium would be right. Any ideas?

Responded on

Sorry dude, didn't realise you posted a question. I am 34 waist and 5'9 and circa 81 kgs. The large was way too big. I now have M's ad they fit well but are still a large-ish due to the cut. There is a little room in the length so an M might be the go.

These pants Rock

Totally awesome pants. Took them on a multi-day trip to Brian Head, UT. Conditions ranged from Bluebird sun to light snow and heavy wind. The pants were the warmest piece of gear I had.

I rocked the inner liner the whole trip and opened the crotch vents when it got warm. At night I rocked the inner liner around the cabin and they were awesome.

I am a 686 convert after just one trip. I am looking at getting the jacket to go with the pants too based on the quality in the pants.

Bought through Amazon and everything shipped on time. Very smooth transaction. Highly recommended

686 Smarty's

Pants are super dope. I'm 5' 8" and 165lbs and medium fits me perfect. Although with shoes on they do drag a bit. The only thing I noticed is that they got rid of the magnetic poket covers, which were available previously on the smarty. I loved the magnets. Now they have snaps so be aware!

Best ever

best pants i have ever owned...The liner that comes with them keep you so warm that you don't really even need base layers unless its really cold out. They are pretty durable in the park as well...plus the zip out liners are really nice to chill in after you ride!

im 6 feet tall about 170
my waist is about a 32 or 33 and my inseam is about 32
should i get a med or large?????
i have both size pants and it just depends on the style?
what do you think?
thanks kevin

Responded on

Ya I'm shorter about 5' 8" 160lbs and about the same waist and a M is a long in the leg if I'm wearing shoes. But i think with boots they would fit perfect. I think M should fit you fine. As the waist has lots of room to expand.

on the cuffs of the pants there are buttons that look like they can unbutton to make the pant cover more boot, i am wondering if those are on the side or the front of the pant...

Best Answer Responded on

They are on the front... But you can slide them to the inside or outside. Mine are pretty baggy on me so its easy to move them to the inside where they'll rest comfortably (which I normally do), or leave them in front.

Best Pants I've owned

I've rocked everything from spyder godfathers to helly hansen pants and the sessions gridlock. These are hands down my favorite. The removable liner is super comfortable and awesome for cold days, and it gives the pants a lot of versatility for warmer days when you dont need the liner. They seemed super tough and took a beating until I blew a seem when ate it off a cornice, accidentally doin a bit of the splits while I had them sagged a bit. I dont blame the pants for this, and Backcountry was cool enough to take care of me, making a crappy situation, not so crappy. At the end of the day, you really feel like you've got on a great quality pair of pants that are worth the money, and then some.

hey i was just wondering if these pants have a link system for like a snow skirt. Kinda like how the burton gear has the zip link

Responded on

Not real sure what you mean by a link system, but they do have belt loops as well as many other places to attach anything and everything. These are great pants, I am used to wearing North Face and love these 10 fold vs. NF.

Responded on

They don't have a zipper like burton, but they have 3 loops for a compatible jacket to button onto. 2 on each side and 1 in the back.
