These are the dopest dope ever. Gunmetal texture is very pleasing to the eye... Chicks dig it. The pants are uber warm when pared with the included liner for those frigid days. Haven't worn with without the liner yet but I expect to be just as comfortable. I'd buy these again in a heartbeat. Maybe my favorite snowboard pants ever and I rash through alot every season.

With the zip-out liner these pants are extremely warm..it will handle anything mother nature can dish out while keeping you dry and warm. Numerous well-secured and accessbile pockets. Considered a classic and I agree. You can't go wrong with a pair of these pants.

Wet-Cold Butt! OK, does anyone else out there experience wet

Wet-Cold Butt!

OK, does anyone else out there experience wet butt with these pants? I know a good percentage of boarders including myself sit & click bindings before going on a run….and these pants need an extra layer or something for your afterburners. I have a pair from 4 yrs ago, daughter has a pair from 2 yrs ago and I just ordered a pair for my son. So, have they made any improvements with the back area? Other than that, they’re GREAT and very versatile with the zip out lining, good for cold, normal and just chillin before/after riding.

Damaged

After 3 uses the pants have a number small cuts/tears on each of the inner ankles of each pant leg. I am not happy with the quality of the product especially for the cost paid.

The 2012 Smarty original cargo are one of the most reliable pairs of pants I have ridden. As far as sizing goes, I am 5'11 180 lbs. and went with the Large, which fits loose but not to loose that I look like a clown. The textured feel to them is great, snow and water just wick right off the fabric. They have a ton of pockets that are nice and deep for storing whatever. The inner leg zip allows for easy air flow and the liner keeps the pant at the perfect temperature even if its 50 degrees out. The only flaw that I have noticed is the bottom button, it comes undone and doesn't hold well which can cause the pant to drag a bit. Pick up a belt for these and that should help. These pants are great and as long as 686 keeps making them, I will continue to buy them.

Good Choice

I love these board pants. They have tons of pockets, fit real nice, and have a zip out liner for when its super chilly. I've been out probably 30+ times in these things and have yet to get noticably wet in them even on the warmer days. I hardly use the zip out liner because it honestly gets too hot when its 20+ degrees out and your movin around a lot. Overall, If your stuck between these and another brand or 2, I'd get these. You wont be disappointed.

Awesome Smarty Pants!

These pants are a 3-in-1 pant! The inside liner removes, to make them a very thin, nice pant overall! They are very warm, and keep you dry on the coldest days! The cargo pocket is a great feature, to store all of your extra "stuff" in. These pants fit and look great as well! You can't go wrong with this one!

if you haven't had a pair of 686 smarty cargo pants at some time you are missing out.
this pant changed how i layered for snowboarding.
with the liners zipped in, they are plenty warm around all the windy cold days in the rockies.
there are so many features in this pant they are hard to list. my favorite is the reinforced heel panels and gusseted crotch. these pants are durable, warm and hold up.
