Stand tall, Mr. Smarty Pants.

Unlike your twin brother Zeke, who preferred to scarf fistfuls of powdered chocolate drink after dinner, you took your parents’ advice and ate all of the vegetables on your plate. So although you and your brother share the same genes, it’s really no mystery why you’re a tall, strapping fellow and he's a grown man with chocolate smeared on his face. But it’s all good—686 knows you still have that weird twin-love, so they obliged your desire for complementary wardrobes with a tall version of the Smarty Original Men's 3-in-1 Cargo Pant.

With a 33.5 inch inseam, the Smarty Original Tall offers a fit that vertically-gifted riders will love, along with all the tech you'd expect from the famous Smarty series. The polyester fabric is super-waterproof, thanks to an InfiDry 15K membrane and fully-taped seams, and don't forget the Smarty's signature feature―a removable 260g fleece liner that you can wear as insulation or on its own. There are also inseam vents to keep you cool, and leg gaiters that are compatible with the BOA snowboard boot lacing system, making it super easy to adjust your boots without fiddling with pant cuffs.

  • 33.5in inseam (2in taller than the regular version)
  • InfiDry 15K waterproof membrane
  • Fully-taped seams
  • Removable 260g fleece liner pants
  • Inseam vents
  • PJ-Connect pant-to-jacket interface
  • BOA compatible leg gaiters

Finally snowsports pants for tall guys

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have two seasons in with these pants and can honestly say I love them. First the are true tall pants that have enough length to still be a little loose and baggy (I am 6'5" 200lbs with a 35-36" inseam and the XLs are plenty long). Second you are really getting 3 pairs of pants. The inner liner is fine to wear driving to the mountain or even hanging out in the lodge after a long day of skiing or boarding. The outer shell worn alone has a ton of pockets, thigh zips, and is perfect worn alone on those warm spring days. If you put the two pieces together you get a warm comfortable snowpant that can handle the coldest day. The only complaint I have on these was after a season and a half the waterproofing started to have gaps in it. It was easily fixed with a soak in a $6 Durable Waterproofing refresher and now they are good for another season of everything from dry powder to wet Spring crud.

Quite possibly the best pants EVER

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

What makes these so great? Well the obvious is that they add a few more inches at the leg so I'm not constantly being asked 'where's the flood buddy'? Jokes aside, I'm average height (5'11" with 32 inseam) and love the extra baggy-ness of the pants. I've tried on the non-tall version and the hem just looks a little too high for my taste. Pants have pockets galore positioned in traditional, thoughtful locations, and not like some of the other pants out there with crazy angles and sizes for pockets (e.g. Volcom). As for fit, it's perfect. Not too baggy and not Shaun White nut-hugging tight. Fabric is durable and breathes well, and sheds the snow/water with ease. Fleece liner is the bomb and just makes these the pants the most comfortable thing ever. Liner is easily removable, but you really don't need to remove it: in my experience, no matter the temps, this pant is capable of regulating your temp perfectly. I swear, it's witchcraft. It just breathes that well. It's easily my favorite piece of gear. Just a shame that 686 does not make this in more colors in the tall version. A dark gray and dark khaki color would be frickin awesome.
