Description

New brains can get pricey.

Bern made their lightweight, four-season Watts Helmet even lighter and stronger by switching to a new carbon fiber shell. Now your head can match the giant aero-wing on the back of your two-door coupe. Designed with the help of pro snowboarding legend Jeremy Jones, this lid lightens your load when you're bootpacking your way to untouched backcountry powder stashes.
  • Carbon fiber shell offers increased durability and lighter weight compared to ABS and plastic-mold shells
  • EPS polystyrene is a lightweight, hard foam that evenly distributes energy throughout its internal structure when hit to keep your head intact
  • Removable knit liner allows for year-round action sport use—leave it in to fight off the winter chill and take it out when the weather warms up
  • Versatile four-season design allows you to remove the knit liner and rock this lid in spring, summer, fall or winter with equal comfort and protection

Does anyone know if this helmet has adjustable vents, or a removable insert that allows more airflow on the warmer days. Something similar would be the ventilation system of the POC Receptor+ helmet. Or when you look down the top holes in the helmet, can you see straight through to your head.
Thanks -Eric

Is not true. The actual weight of the Bern Watts Carbon (size L) is 17.6 oz (500g) with the liner. I spoke with the Bern and they admitted they have the wrong weights shown on their website. The real difference in carbon vs non carbon is 40 grams (1.41 oz). The carbon looks really great but weights only 40 grams less

Very cool, but pretty steep price

Nobody can beat Bern in helmet fitment in my opinion. The Watts fits lower and more snug than any other helmet I've tried on. The carbon fiber variant of the Watts shaves a few ounces off the regular Watts (I own both) and looks pretty darn cool to boot. Is it a huge difference? It's definitely noticeable while wearing, but is it worth twice as much as the regular Watts? I'm not too sure, you'll have to be the judge yourself (thankfully I was able to get one on the cheap).
