Helmets don't have to be disposable.
First things first: The Macon Hard Hat isn't a fully certified snow or skate helmet. Its AVS shell and moisture-wicking Brock foam are designed to absorb multiple lower-intensity impacts, not full-out ski crashes or skate wipeouts, so if you're pushing the limits, it's probably not the brain bucket for you. If, however, you're clicking into skis or strapping into your board for the first time, the Macon's a great option. It'll cushion your dome over and over during low-speed, low-intensity falls, and the passive ventilation will keep your egg from scrambling and the removable liner lets you switch to summer activities in a hot second.

Boarding with the Bern Macon Hard Hat
I ordered this helmet about two years ago in a small (I am 5'2.5) I found that the item fit true to size and I love it! I was initially a little concerned about the white getting super dirty but it does not. The removable liner is awesome too for warm days on the slopes. Overall this is a great item for "low impact" wipe outs like the description says. If you wipe out frequently or really hard, I would go with something else. But for your average and cautious person, this is a great buy.
