The best!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Truly my favorite helmet ever! I had my Bern Baker for 6 years and just switched to this, and man does it fit so perfect and comfortably. Its shape is great because its not totally round like a mushroom head. It has lines and shape, and the brim, which really makes it a distinguished helmet.

vents cannot close
audio liner is not good

Is there a summer liner or audio liner...

Is there a summer liner or audio liner available for this helmet? I've searched around and I can't seem to find a definitive answer.

i never used one growing up...i'm fine,

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

how many people say that! but, now that i'm a father and i make my son wear a helmet, i have no answer for when my four year old asks me, "where is your helmet dad?" i picked the bern watts helmet for vanity reasons. it actually looked cool and not the typical run of the mill helmet. i have used the helmet skate boarding at the local skate park and while riding bikes and scooters with my son...can't wait to use it on the slopes...pray for snow! its a comfortable fit, breathes well, and i don't feel like the kids are pointing and laughing at the old guy wearing safety gear ;) i've actually bumped my head a couple times dropping into a bowl and now i'm glad i have the helmet. buy one...it's better to have one and not need it, then to need it and not have one!

Ooh! neon!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

A few of my buddies were super stoked on their Bern helmets so I decided to invest in a good brain bucket and followed the path of my friends. all in all, so stoked about this skid lid. the neon really stands out in the snow and the liner is ultra comfy. glad I bought this lid.

My choice

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've been looking for a new ski helmet for the upcoming season, and narrowed it down to the watts and the Protec Riot. I chose this guy. I got it in neon green and its a pretty sick color. The liner is thin and stiff over the ears and at the back- similar to a windproof fleece- and is super fine mesh over the entire top. The liner pops out with 4 snaps and some small velcro spots and has one adjustment spot on the back to take up any slack for small headed users. the strap is pretty basic and easily adjusted. Its super lowpro and looks real good too. all around pretty rad helmet.

great helmet

The style, look, fit, and fill of this helmet is perfect. I haven't landed on my head yet to test that factor. I've worn it on the coldest days here and been nice and toasty.

Red Mutiny

  • Gender: Female
  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I returned this helmet for the Red Mutiny which I believe is more low-profile. I preferred the adjustability of the liner in this helmet, but took the Red helmet since it looks smaller.

Durable low profile helmet

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Overall I am very happy with my Bern Watts. The permanent vent is just enough to allow excess heat to escape during a tour or bootpack, but not so much that you freeze on the way down. The snap in liners are warm, though I don't recommend the audio knit for its durability. This helmet is reasonably lightweight and is the lowest profile of any helmet I've owned. My only complaints are that they are not really adjustable with a BOA system, but make you adjust through the knits and that they have a poor fit with my Smith I/O goggles. They may fit better with a larger helmet ( I wear size small for reference). I've had good luck with it fitting with Oakley goggles. Overall good helmet, but could use some refinement.

Fitment is snug & comfortable. I haven't had a chance to test it out on the slopes yet. Slightly concerned about the helmet to goggle clearance.
