Description

Good thing winter's coming back ... this year at least.

Until global warming eats up the earth, zip up the Burton Men's AK 2L Cyclic Jacket for winter’s return. Burton tricked out this jacket with Gore-Tex Performance Shell material and Gore-Seam Tape for protection that’s guaranteed to keep you dry. The ALS lining manages warmth and moisture so you don’t overheat, while Underarm zips help cool things down when the hike ends up being a little longer than expected. Attach the storm skirt to your Burton pants on those really deep days, and throw a bud or two into the front chest pocket for a mid-ride break. - Fall 2008.

Sig Fit Rules!!

No way, i finnaly found exactly what i was looking for! anyone else sick and tired of wanting a long jacket but they are all too big and floppy? well the search ends here. Sig fit is awesome, im 5'9, 180 average build and the small fits just like my favorite sweatshirt, fairly tapered but not constricting at all, and not balloning out towards the bottom and middle...its pretty long, sure long enough to keep all that snow out, even when you lift up your arms. Basically it fits like a tall-tee, not a fat-tee like most jackets. Also the radical green color is a lot brighter than pictured, very vibrant. Zipper is a little difficult and usually gets stuck at the top, but the collar is very tall and protective. the hood is very small, no helmet with this thing, those problems arent enough to take away a star tho cuz im so stoked on the perfect fit :-)

everyting I expected and more

Exactly what I was looking for. It's just a shell so don't think you're gonna wear this thing by it self in anything less than freezing conditions, but thats exactly where it excells. I took it out with a base layer and fleese hoody and was warm in neg 45 windchill. This baby shuts the wind out entirely! only down side, it's hard to zip it all the way up with a helmet on.

Does anyone have a pic of the goldenseal color? If it's anything like the rest of Burton's yellow-clothes-gig, it'll be far brighter in person. I like the yellow color, but don't know if I'd like it bright as the sun, ya know?

goldenseal is very bright, true orange

Sick jacket

This is a great jacket. It will definitely keep you dry. Bought primarily as a spring jacket and has done a great job. The neon green gets dirty pretty easily, but doesn't really bother me. Interested to see how it will work next year in tahoe.. pretty sure it will do the job. Would recommend to anyone who needs a nice weatherproof outer layer.

AK 2L Cyclic: Burton

Great Jacket! Everything about the Ak is awesome really! I am super happy with my purchase. The only thing to look at carefully is the sizing, but if it doesn't fit you can get the right size any way!!!!

sick

its a sick jacket, snug to the fit but very stylish. get a size up if you like it loose.

Really nice quality

Jacket surpassed my expectations, really high quality for a great price. It looks a lot better than depicted in the pictures.

hello! I'm looking at buying the cyclic jacket and pants, but am unsure which sizes to go for... I've got last years hover jacket in a medium, which comes up quite big, but not too big. I have heard that this years jackets are cut a bit bigger... which size is best? I'm 5"11 and 170lbs. I tried a pair of the resin denim pants in a large and they were HUGE. I've usually gone for a M, but am considering the S instead... I normally buy 32" jeans...

Responded on

If you plan on layering, a M wouldn't hurt. When boarding, I'd rather have a jacket fit looser than tighter. That's just me, though. I'd get the larger size and layer.

Keep in mind, though, that other reviews and questions on this page say that it's MUCH bigger, so really (and obviously) it's up to your best discretion in the end.

Good jacket, keeps the snow away

I bought this jacket because I was looking for something to replace my tired-looking North Face shell. I just spent three days riding through deep powder in this thing, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. The length is definitely the best feature. For the first time ever, I didn't have any snow-down-yer-pants: I didn't think this was possible! The pockets are plentiful and well-laid out. The jacket has more generous fit than I would prefer (especially when compared to other brands). The hood is large enough to fit over my helmet, which is great. The jacket's neck is tall enough that it could replace my separate neck gaiter on days where it's not bitter cold. The jacket is just a shell, but I didn't need more layers than normal to maintain my usual comfort level. Overall, I'm happy that I bought this and I would recommend it to others.

I like this jacket.

I bought brite white denim. The denim material is heavy/tough. By no means a packable jacket. Brite white might get dirty pretty fast but thats the cost of admission for a snow ninja (makes me want some white tigercamo pants). Good pockets. Love the collar, the lining is super soft, although i wish it went all through the hood. Pockets good, plenty internal for mp3, cell, etc. Love the zip-link to my pants. Lifetime Warranty. I'm 6'4 215lbs and decided to go with Large and it fits good plenty of room for layers. I dont like a lot of extra bulk, i like my shit to fit without a lot of baggy. Wore it on a sunny 33 degree day with just a tshirt underneath and was good (i'd rather be a little bit cold, than a little too warm and sweaty). I kinda miss wrist gaiters, but no big deal.

Reading the answer above, I was originally going to get a medium b/c that is the size of my northface jacket... but i'm only 5'7" 150lbs... should I go with the small?

Responded on

Go with the small. I'm 5'11", 195 lbs, 42/43 jacket, 34 pants and the medium is plenty big for me.

does this jacket have the big AK logo on the back of it? also is it a long jacket? i'm pretty tall and i want a jacket that goes near upper to mid thigh

Responded on

It doesn't have a logo on the back it has a really small [AK] logo on the side and it says GORE TEX on the right sleeve but it is other wise nice and crispy clean. It isn't thug long, but it doesn't fit like a belly shirt either. I would say mid thigh is right about where it hits.********Tab, Matt's right on with the description of the jacket. It also has another small Burton AK logo on the bottom right side of the jacket, around 2x2.5 inches. I just got a medium and it fits me perfectly at 6'2", 170 lbs with a 40" chest, 32" waist and 35" sleeves. I originally got a large because of the sleeve length and that came down to mid thigh but then I tried on the medium and the sleeves still fit me and it was more tailored to my chest and waist and sits upper thigh instead of mid. It's Burtons Sig Fit which is not slim but not extremely baggy either. Hope this helps.

Pricey but Good

Excellent jacket, I got this to replace my 10 year old North Face Goretex shell which I used for bad weather and backcountry, using a cheaper, lighter, less waterproof (and more "stylish") snowboard jacket for park and spring riding.

The shell is very waterproof and very breathable so it will keep you dry from outside rain and sleet, but not sweaty from your backcountry hike. I personally like it's very minimalist design, a few pockets, season pass holders, pit vents and little else (i.e. no uper big cargo pockets) to keep it lightweight and easy to move around it. I like the off axis zipper so my face isn't rubbed raw when I have it full zipped up.

I do have to admit that I purchased this particular jacket as a bit of a impulse buy as I really liked the look Electric Blue model (I usually always buy whatever's on super sale)... but with backcountry.com's satisfaction guarantee and a 25% I think it's very worth it.

Will this jacket add warmth or will it just keep you dry?

Responded on

It will definitely keep you dry and protect against the wind. You'll need a fleece or layering underneath to keep warm

will the hood fit a helmet?

will the hood fit a helmet?

Responded on

I haven't tried personally but I know that it's suppose to fit just fine. (steve)YES. A helmet fits under this. put the hood over your helmet first then zip up the jacket. (nima)

best features available

If it holds up to the nuking snow, blowing winds (at least 40 some larger gusts), and keeps giving with its powder skirt and side zip that doesn't rub your chin raw this jacket kicks big ASS I have had several great gore tex jackets and this one out shines the rest I have had ten days on this coat im from Utah today was by far the windiest snowiest white out conditions and it of coarse kept me bone dry and gore tex is completely wind proof
