Description

No-nonsense waterproofing for living the dream.

The Burton Women's AK 2L Stratus Pant brings style and performance supported by Burton's women-specific AK fit and Gore-Tex 2L waterproof, windproof, and breathable fabrication. Developed with Alaska's unforgiving backcountry in mind, the Stratus is suitable for the dedicated rider seeking a 100-day season or anyone who can't afford to get wet.

The Stratus pant provides no-compromise protection when your life literally depends on it. The guaranteed waterproof breathable Gore-Tex laminate will stand up to the most brutal abuse that nature can throw at it (OK, it isn't lava-proof). If it gets too warm, you can dump heat in a hurry by popping open the mesh-lined inner thigh vents (again, this probably won't save you in a volcanic eruption). The microfleece fly and waistband are soft to the touch, so you won't get nasty hot spots if your skin rubs against your pants. Burton also built a jacket-to-pant interface into the pants so you can attach them to your Burton jacket to create a suit of snow-proof armor. Expandable boot gaiters slide over your boots to keep snow from finding its way in. The integrated waist adjustments allow you to customize your fit, and you can dial it in with the belt loops or just use them to accessorize. Burton also included reinforced hems with cuff elevators so you don't shred your pants walking through the parking lot at the end of the day. Finally, you can protect your valuables or just warm your digits with the fleece-lined, zippered front hand pockets.

  • Gore-Tex laminate, fully taped seams
  • AK fit (loose, athletic fit with articulated knees)
  • Zippered, mesh-lined thigh vents
  • Reinforced hems with cuff elevators
  • Expandable boot gaiters
  • 2 fleece-lined hand pockets, 1 ATM pocket
  • Jacket interface

Great pants! Style and function!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These pants are very comfortable to wear! They have a great fit which allow for total range of movement while snowboarding and hiking, but they are not overly baggy to the point where you look like a bum. I have muscular quads and I have no problem moving around in these pants, as oppose to some other brands and styles I have tried on. Burton sizing usually runs very well for me and has continued to stay accurate year after year. The AK series is always great, too! Very functional products that can take a beating. When choosing snowpants, Gore-Tex is an absolute must for me -- I hate having a wet, frozen over butt! These pants also have nifty pull tabs to raise the heel of the pants off the ground so they don't get sliced up while off mountain. It's a neat feature, but it's a little difficult to lower them back down.

The first day I wore these pants, I went through a few gladed runs and unfortunately brushed up against a tree, which left a super gnarly tree/grass stain on my pants!!! ARGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I contacted Gore-Tex and with their advice, as well as the care label on the inside of these pants, I was able to get the stain out without any trouble -- my main concern now is how well the Gore-Tex fabric has stood up to the wash. I'm praying that they are still just as waterproof as day one. Gore-Tex has assured me that they will be, but the fabric does not feel the same. We shall see...

Burton AK pants are still the best!

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is my third pair in 20 years and this pair is even better than earlier versions. VERY waterproof and articulated. Waist runs a little large and a belt helps; otherwise they are perfect.
