I am 5'8" 150 typically wear a Medium but would a small be better in this jacket??
Just got this jacket, I'm 5'9 and 175, I ordered a large as I have an older AK 3l jacket that is this size and it fits well, I'm gonna be sending it back for a medium for sure since the sizing of this jacket is a lot larger than my previous one. Think a medium would probably fit you too

Does this jacket have adjustable waist bands on the bottom of the jacket to help adjust the slimness of fit?
yeah it has the adjustable waist cords

does this jacket have pit zips? I tried a model from the new season today and they have them, but the specs seem to say that year does not have them. Also, can anyone tell me if the sizing is the same as this year (I know not a lot of shops have them yet, I tried a sampler)? thanks

How's the sizing on these jackets? I'm normally an XL, but the latest incarnation of the AK-Down Jacket had me at only a L ... I don't trust online size guides from Burton at all..

So, got the jacket. What the heck are these tiny pockets for?
??? Don't say its for your stash...those little square pockets are too small for a pipe, lighter, or barely a crunched up sandwich bag. Maybe you could put a couple screws in there, but they'd fall out. It is only velcro. So, WTF...ideas?
Burton is all about Burton, so they might be for holding burton tuning tools such as the FBI-6 driver, its a small rectangular device (its pretty sweet actually)...chances are theres something burton makes that will slip perfectly into those pockets...either a tool or wax, or board lock
So what is the truth on those zippers? ...
So what is the truth on those zippers? I've been out days when it is freezing rain at the bottom and snow up top. Without a zipper flap on the front, I'm skeptical the new Burton zippers could keep out all the wet stuff.
This jacket should have the new Riri aquazippers on it. If that is the case, and i am 90% sure it is, then you couldn't even get a fire hose to force water through the Goretex Proshell and Riri zippers. The zipper is still welded but way more durable because of the interlock that is used. Riri zips are the new thing and they perform...period!
Yes, all the high end Burton gear this year has the Riri zips. I just bought some pants with them, but haven't had a chance to test them in the elements. If they work for you, that's a good sign. Thanks.
Great Winter riding Jacket
Great jacket, the fit is quite generous... so plenty of room for layers, or a loose fit. I've just ridden in this for the last 12 days in Fernie, BC and it has been great from -10 days to +5, however, as there is plenty of insulation, I would definitely keep this one for harsh winter days... thankfully there are some large pit zips for when you want to hang at base camp. No complaints here...
Recommended for warmth
This is a great jacket for both boarding and wearing around the sub 10 degree Michigan weather. I was looking for a jacket with more than a waterproof shell and find this one plenty warm with a sweatshirt as a base layer. I usually wear a medium but ordered a small in this style and it fits perfect. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in more than a simple waterproofing shell.

how big a difference is there between the 2 Layer and the 3 Layer gore tex in burton jackets ? -- how big a diff does it make in terms of warmth ?
2 layers are supple and quiet; 3 layers are for extra-rugged use. I'd say the advantage of 3 layer is waterproofing, not warmth.
