Description

The pro’s choice.

Burton made the Men’s AK 3L Hover Pant burly enough that Terje, Jeremy, and Jussi all picked it as their go-to lower shell for deep pow days and backcountry goods. A combination of Gore-Tex Pro Shell and Gore-Tex Soft Shell ensures total moisture protection with extra breathability in key locations. Plus, Burton added flow-though venting for extra cooling. Ballistic paneling adds more durability, so you don’t trash these pants in half a season. As a final touch, Burton also included RiRi Aquazip water-resistant zippers to eliminate the only possible weaknesses.

Great pants

Awesome pants, they are Gore tex so you know they will keep you warm and dry all day long. Well placed vents and the cargo pockets are a good size to stash wallet and whatever else you may need to have with you. As always from Burton a well thought out product. The price is up there but at least you know you can stay out riding in any weather condition.

Do anyone know the weight of these pants?

Responded on

Really light, about 20 to 23 oz depending on your size. They are amazing pants, especially for the price.

I don't know the actual weight, but it's a technical shell, super light, and it's not all Gore-Tex pro, has some gore-tex soft shell to make any movement effortless, and I use it for skiing too which requires more individual leg movement and I feel absolutely no hindrance from the pants. I bought this retail at 400 but I still think it's worth it.

Awesome for skiing too!

I was looking for a Gore-Tex Pro shell, and after weeks of research, bought Arc'teryx Sidewinder SV Pant, but ended up not liking it at all. The size ran a bit smaller than I thought, and I just thought it looked too "formal." (I have a review written of it) I wanted something that isn't as form fitting as my other skiing pants, but not as baggy as the Armada pants. To my surprise, the AK Hover pant seemed like a decent fit (they call the fit of these pants the "sig fit," which is between their "team fit" and "slim fit" fits), and it did serve that purpose for the most part (it could be a tad slimmer, but still pretty damn good). I got size small in resin, and it looks pretty distinctive with my teak Arc'teryx Sidewinder AR jacket (09). My understanding is that it's not completely Gore-Tex pro shell, but actually a mix of Pro and Gore-Tex Soft shell, and the combination produces a much more comfortable fit that follows your movement very well! It almost feels like the pants isn't even there! The wind protection is awesome ,which is a given with such material. Had this been a skiing pants, I would've given it 4/5 stars because it doesn't have a scuff guard. Got some action in it for about 5 hours of skiing today and no cuts or damages yet, so hopefully it stays that way! This is my first Burton product purchase since I'm a skier, but I must say I'm impressed with their quality! Only real negative note: It's made in China, but they all are these days....

Hover pants are great!

I got these pants for my son who is a snowboard instructor and spends a lot time on the slopes (including on his butt!). He has been extremely happy with these pants. They keep him warm in the subzero wind chills, plus completely dry on the rainy/sleety days. GoreTex Pro Shell rocks & is worth the money. Hopefully these pants will last for many years to come!

does anyone know if these pants are just like the AK 3L hover jacket, is this just a shell with no lining or anything?

Responded on

yeah the pants are like the jacket, it doesn't have any insulation, but as long as you got something on underneath you should be fine, you don't get wet with gore tex
