More than meets the eye.
The understated style of the Burton Women's AK Blade Jacket may fool you into thinking it's just another ordinary piece of outerwear, but you'd be sorely mistaken. Gore-Tex fabric, a functional fit, and loads of features make this top-of-the-line jacket a force to be reckoned with.
Guaranteed waterproof breathable two-layer Gore-Tex fabric blocks out snow, wind, and rain while allowing vapor to escape so you don't get drenched with sweat on the inside. Fully taped seams with Gore-Seam tape prevent moisture from seeping in through the cracks, and brushed tricot fleece and taffeta is placed throughout the lining to provide warmth and a soft, smooth feel.
The AK fit features engineered articulation to allow for total freedom of movement, and it allows room to layer underneath without being baggy or bulky. Zippered underarm vents let you dump heat when you're huffing it to the peak, and the contoured hood with a micro-adjust cinch shields your head when a storm suddenly rolls in. A removable stretch powder skirt with jacket-to-pant interface keeps the snow out on waist-deep days. Plus, multiple pockets, including a goggle pocket and a season pass pocket, keep your everyday essentials close at hand.

I absolutely LOVE this jacket. I got it to replace an AK jacket from a couple of years ago, and have not been disappointed. First of all, the fit is right on point. It's got a cut that helps distinguish you as a lady, but it's not skin tight and allows for easy movement. I am 5'2, 120lbs, and I prefer a loose fit in my snow jackets. I got the Large in this model, which is a little long in the sleeves (as expected) but it's nice and loose. It allows for thicker layers on the cold days, but it's not too much jacket for just wearing a sole base layer for the warmer days. Secondly, the tech on this is bomb. I love having a gore shell. It works very well at keeping the water/snow out, while still allowing breathability. And it's killer in keeping the wind out too! I like the Burton powder skirts (this one is not removable)- they do a good job keeping the snow out on the deeper days, but it doesn't bother you on the days you don't snap it up. So far the zipper has been good on this as well (I have had some trouble in the past with AK zippers), and the pockets are easy to access. I was at first hesitant on the inner pocket- it's not a zip pocket, but it has a full sticky velcro closure. No chance of it ripping open, the seal is good! And last, but most definitely not least, this jacket is mighty swag.
