All-terrain freestyle junkie.
The Burton Men's Ambush Snowboard Boot is a versatile, mid-flexing boot that's great for someone looking to take his freestyle skills to the entire mountain. Using quick and efficient Speed Zone Lacing, the Ambush's upper and lower zones can be tightened independently, allowing you to dial-in your preferred fit for all-mountain action. Its Wishbone upper features Jumper Cables, which are high-rebound rods on both the medial and lateral sides. These rods help you snap into turns without sacrificing tweakability for park and freestyle riding. Additionally, the boot's oversized flex notches offer articulation, allowing for a smoother flex without much shell distortion.
Inside the boot, you'll find a heat-moldable Imprint 3 liner with a Focus Cuff Heel Hold system. This system prevents dreaded heel lift when you're carving around the mountain, especially if you install the removable J-Bars for added support. Additionally, the boot's DynoLite EST sole offers maximum board feel, injecting a skate-like feel into your riding experience, as well as absorbing bumps and harsh landings with its integrated B3 gel cushioning.

Didn't have to worry about my boots
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
I'm a newby boarder and these were literally the first pair of snowboard boots I have every put on. They were very light and easy to wear. I've spent hours learning the skill of snowboarding and I have had no problems at all with these boots and my feet are comfortable and warm. It was a very nice change after going through many painful trials of different ski boots. I'm impressed after several days and I suspect they'll last me a long time.
Comfort Right Out of the Box!
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
The best thing about Burton's new boots is they have very little breakin period! They also feature "shrinkage" so us big footed people get a slimmer shell to help with the dreaded toe drag. Lastly the EST style keeps you feeling surf / skate oriented vs the kicked up heel of most snowboard boots! THESE ARE AWESOME BOOTS!
Perfect blend of comfort and mobility.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Picked these up after riding a pair of Burton Rampant boots last season. Just finished my second full day of riding with these bad boys, so take my review with a grain of salt, as these aren't 100% broken-in yet. They seem super responsive, yet not overly stiff, which is exactly what I was looking for in a pair of boots. Plus, the B3 gel in the heel keeps me riding smooth when I land flat or cruise over crud.
First off, you'll notice how freakin' light these are straight from the box. I can literally pick 'em up with my pinkie around the heel loop without straining my finger. Plus, their footprint reduction is amazing. My size 11 boots have the outline of a size 10, meaning I can ride a regular board without resorting to a wider deck.
Second, the Imprint 3 liner is a huge step-up from the Imprint 2 found on the Ruler and Rampant boots. This liner has great heel hold and wraps around my foot and ankle for a super-snug, yet not-too-tight fit. FYI, I have wide, super-flat feel with barely any arch and it's hard to find shred boots that fit properly, so I usually stick with Burton. The first day was a bit painful, as these were too stiff, but I didn't heat mold 'em, so that's to be expected straight from the box. That being said, they're now softening up to my desired medium flex range.
Last thing I'll mention is the super-convenient Speed Lacing System. It took me all of 5 minutes to figure out how to find my ideal tightness in the upper and lower zones. This lacing seems pretty durable, but I'm not sure how long it'll last with me pulling 'em super tight. I guess time will tell.
Oh yeah, the Blimey colorway looks really rad with its bright blue and green hues!
