Description

Everything your grom needs to get better than you.

Burton chose the shape, materials, and design of the Kids' Chopper Snowboard to give your grom every possible advantage during the first couple seasons. A centered stance lets your kid choose which foot should be in front without being forced one way or the other. Burton's Small Fly II core provides the forgiving flex that often makes the difference between a smooth turn and a crash. The Chopper also has a hard Lightspeed Vision base that holds up to seasons of abuse with little need for repair. **DISCONTINUED**

what size snowboard should my eleven year-old son get

Responded on

Really depends on how much your son has ridden and height/weight measurements. There is a link to the sizing chart directly underneath the drop down menu up top. Check that out to see if it gives you a better idea.

Ebay has afew 131's right now. Go peep that before it's too late. Other than that, I'm not sure where you'll find an 08 if it's not in stock anywhere.

4 Year Old Did Great

My son loves his new Chopper. He has phenomenal gross motor skills and could stand up without losing his balance just fine. Now we're working on learning to turn and stop. I paired the board with Burton Freestyle bindings (the 1 straps) and Burton boots in the smallest size available an 11C.

The Chopper is a great board at a great price and if you buy the 2009 now which is 1/2 price at at least one online retailer that I know of then your little grom will be all set for the next season.

PS-Backcounrty only price matches if the board on sale at another retailer is the exact same size as the board you wish to buy at BackCountry, so keep the board size in mind when you are price shopping and not just the make/model.

I want to get a Burton 100cm chopper board for my son. Ive noticed other internet sites have them on sale now for $107. Do you guys price match? If not when will you be putting yours on sale.. I buy a lot of camping stuff from you guys so I would rather buy this board from you if possible. ThanksLee

Lee, I have found if you call or do the live chat when ordering that Backcountry will price match as long as the items are the same.

Good

Good board, I demoed it at a local mountain. But I have last year's model and I like it more because there is no beveled edge. I would let riders have the choice. Beveled or not.

Burton tech trickles all the way down

A super-solid board for little groms. It's my son's first board, and I'm guessing we'll have it for a while based on a look at the construction. The binding mounts are just like the grown-up boards, which is great - I mounted the bindings at the beginning of a week-long trip, and they hadn't loosened at all when I pulled them off to pack up. Worth noting that the board is drilled to accept any binding, three- or four-hole, so you're not necessarily confined to Burton's (excellent) junior bindings.

I have a 3 year old that has been "snow boarding" down the sledding hills since 1 years old on an old style snowboard (slip your foot into a binding that loops over your boot but doesn't tie you in). His 7 year old sister and 13 year old brother are tearing up the slopes on their real Burton boards but we can't find a real board to take him out on the slopes with and the slip ons are not allowed on the hills (understandably). All but the 3 year old were in Red Lodge this past weekend on a snowboard vacation and we saw a 3 year old out there on a board without the sharp edges. The dad said it was a Burton board that he had found at backcountry so I'm curious to know what it might be. Was it the Chopper? If not, do you have a suggestion for a snowboard for the one who is feeling left behind?BTW - leg strength is very important and my kids were all walking before they were 9 months old so this is not a typical family...

This board does have metal edges. I haven't seen the one you are talking about.

My duaghter is 9 years old weighs 80lbs she is 4'5"She did well in the LTR at Stratton Mtn last weekend She was able to snowboard down the hill on her own by the end of the day. What is the correct length board for her and how do you determine that. I also would like to get this season as well as nxt seaon use out of the board.

Responded on

determined by weight, sometimes by height, look at board size charts and try and get a board that has a 20-30 pound range for them to grow into...but the board should never be taller than they are, if the board that is in the correct wieght range is taller than your daughter, then go down untill it is the same height or preferably shorter

Hey,I want to buy my 6 yo who weighs 40lbs who is a wild little boy a Burton chopper. Do I buy him the 90 or the 100cm. He is on the short end compared to other kids his age. Thanks, mike

Responded on

I would suggest waiting a few years before buying him a snowboard as kids at that age do not have the leg strength to really snowboard for any length of time. I started my daughter when she was 7 with Private Lessons and she was good for about 40 minutes before she would have to stop. The instructor explained it to me that it is normal because they have not developed the leg strength. They seem to pick up on sking quickly and are able to keep up if you want to ride together.

how to attach bindings to a snowboard that is purchased from Backcountry?

Responded on

Pretty simple bud. First, before you get bindings or a board, make sure they're compatible with each other. Not all bindings fit all boards. If they're both the same brand though you're ok. But the bindings will have a number of holes in them. You simply line them up with the holes on the board, take a phillips screwdriver, and screw them in tight. Not much to it really. It's pretty self evident once you have everything sitting in front of you.
