Burton doesn't consider a book bag with strap sewn to it to be a legitimate skate pack. Take the Burton Distortion Skate Backpack, for example. The Distortion sets itself apart with hassle-free hideaway straps, beefy polyester or cotton construction (for face-time with your grip tape), and perhaps most notably, a dedicated shoe storage pocket for swapping out your skate kicks with a pair that isn't battle-damaged or keeping the foot-funk away from the rest of your gear.
- Padded back panel and shoulder straps
- Top access
- Tough polyester or cotton construction
- 4 side pockets, media pocket
- Hideaway skate carry straps
- Separate shoe pocket

I got this backpack a few years ago and it has yet to rip/break. I pile my books in it every day for classes, pack in everything for a weekend away, make it a carry on for my spring break trips, and use it for anything else I can think of. I like the one large compartment with the laptop sleeve built in so everything is in one place. The side pockets are nice to put my wallet, ipod, or anything else I don't want in the large pocket. The fleece lined pocket has kept my keys and phone in an easy to access area. I would definitely get another bag like this down the road.
