Personal heaters for your hands.

Burton knows you want to get the most out of your day on the mountain, which is why it designed the Gore-Tex Mitt. And if all this warmth isn't enough, add the hidden heater/vent pocket, and the removable four–way stretch DryRide Thermex liner, and your hands will have it made. And don't forget to use the Screen Grab Toughgrip leather palm to scroll through your playlist between runs, because who couldn't use a soundtrack to accompany an epic day of riding?

  • Screen Grab Toughgrip leather palm

Meh...

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

These mittens look a lot better than they perform. Without wearing the liner gloves they are nothing but a shell (no warmth provided). With the liner gloves they are a little better, but the liners advertised as touch screen friendly are not. The liners are the weak link in this mitten. I've switched them out for a pair of Pearl Izumi bike riding gloves and that has helped, but frankly these mittens with liners are no better at keeping my hands warm than a regular pair of ski gloves. So for the penalty of losing all dexterity by wearing mittens, these are not worth it. I will say the shell keeps the inside dry even in very wet conditions so they earn a "3" rating rather than a 2.

Great Mittens

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These mittens came with nice liners and really do a great job keeping your hands warm for long periods of time. Im still waiting to hit the mountains in these things, but so far i dont see anything to suggest they wont hold up.

Super warm gloves!!

These mittens are super warm with a nice fleece lining on the inside. When I first got them I felt like I had way too much room but after used them a few times they broke in and would move with my hand much better. I have had no problems with any water getting through and they breath pretty well so my hands wont get too sweaty. defiantly recommend for anyone looking for a cold day mitten

Great Mittens - Could use 2 improvements

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

These are great mittens. Just used them on a -5 degree day and they worked great. I love the new synthetic material on the palm. It is great that it allows touchscreen grab with the gloves on. All around a warm and durable feeling mitten. I generally shy away from leather palms to a synthetic palm, because synthetic is more durable and fully waterproof. I ordered other mittens in this price range and the Burton's were made from higher quality materials than the others.

2 things could be improved:
The Gore Leather mitten has a small course patch on the inside of the index finger for a goggle wipe. I wish Burton would have added the patch to this synthetic palm model as well. Also the wrist gaiters could stand to be about 1/2" to 1" inch longer. My old Gore mittens from about 8 years ago wore out, but they had a slighter longer gaiter which made use a little easier.

Do these mittens come with an adjustable wrist tether to protect them from dropping 'em?

Responded on

Yes they have an adjustable wrist tether that works great. If worn properly. No dropping these mittens off the lift.

Do these mittens have finger separaters inside the glove?

Responded on

No finger separaters in these mittens. They have a traditional mitten pocket for your fingers. They do come with a stretch fleece burton liner glove that does have fingers. The liners are a separate glove.
