Description

Reinvent your riding when you lace up the Burton Men’s Ion Snowboard Boot.

Reinventing the wheel is a tall order, but that’s what Burton did with the Men’s Ion Snowboard Boot. Burton redesigned the Ion with a low-profile EST midsole to lower your center of gravity and give you better board feel. Use Burton’s new RX adjustable cushioning system to switch between the cushion of gel and the responsiveness of air, depending on what kind of riding you’re doing. Burton’s Imprint 4 liner molds to your foot and delivers excellent ankle support and heel hold. The Ion’s Speed Zone lacing system makes it easy and fast to get on the hill and spend less time trying to find the right fit.**DISCONTINUED**

Does the linear just mold to your foot while you ride? Or what do i have to do to mold it?

Responded on

BOTH! haha...

It will just heat mold to your foot as you ride... or if you want to speed up the process you can take it to a boot fitter and they will heat up the liner with a special hot air blower device and mold them to your foot before you ride.

Either one reveals about the same result... one is just instant, while the other takes time.

Nothing Better!

The best boot on the market! Amazing value, warmth, and design. The gel and air inserts make the boot perfect for all-mountain terrian. The heel support is great. The liner molds right to your foot and the boots imprint is about one size smaller! Would recomend to any snowboard looking for preformance!

Killer Boots

Update: Yes, they run a little small, but once I got the right size I really like these boots. They were comfortable right out of the box (needing little break-in), and are easy to get on and off. It's nice to have upper and lower zones on the laces (and having two zones makes it easier and quicker to fully tighten them). They are warm, and the lower center of gravity and smaller footprint are nice. Yes, they are on the stiff side, but that works for me. Of course cost is an issue, but having comfortable feet is so very important.

09 Burton ION

Boots were uncomfortable due to being a 1/2 size too small even though I ordered a 1/2 size larger than normal. The speed zone lacing is awesome! The liner has built in cushions to lock your ankle in the heel and this caused some minor bruising on my calf the first few days, but it broke in after a bit. Taking the liner out and flexing it and the boot on the natural hinge of my foot seemed to help with the comfort. Felt lots of control on the board. Dogfunk is sending a replacement so hopefully the correct size will make the difference.

GREAT BUY

VERY Comfortable , Easy short breakin period. Got a size 13 fit perfect.

Awesome boots

These are the most comfortable boots I've ever put on. The lacing system is very fast and easy to use. I do worry about tearing the laces and being screwed for the rest of the day, but burton stands behind their product and would have it fixed in a few days. Boots are stiff, but not too stiff for the park. One of my favorite features is the velcro in the liner. Order a 1/2 size up.

Not what they used to be!

Hey over there, I'm English and seasoning again in Italy (that's Europe). I am now on my third pair of Ion's and have to say that they are useless. I like the new velcro system and have always liked the speedzone lacing but these new re-designed Ion's deform when you close them. As for the support 8, I would probably put them at a 5 tops, more like a jib boot than a shredder. They look ridiculously out of shape and they stop the blood flow across the top of my toes and have ruined my season as I have no cash to purchase others. I have a narrow foot which used to have no probs in the old Ions but now I'm gutted!! As you dudes say over there, If it ain't broke, don't try and fix it!

run small

I know it can be tricky buying boots on-line, but I couldn't find these boots locally. I usually wear a 10.5, so I figured that I would be OK with an 11. Nope. With the 11's, my toes go to the tip of the boot (with thin socks) and I'm sure would eventually cramp up. With the Ion's, I guess that I'll need an 11.5. The boots otherwise seem great, but I obviously can't really review them. Just be aware that they definitely run small!

solid

got the green 09's. i was a little worried about them being too stiff. not a problem though. i actually really liked having a little more support.
i've had sl-7's and sl-9's, i have those in 11 but got the ions in 11.5, definitely glad i did, they fit just the same.
i really like the improvements made on the 09's, i always hated the velcro strap at the top of the liner but they did away with it (on these 09 ions at least).
i vowed never to buy boots without speedzone laces it after i got the sl-9's. i do like the batwing handles on the ion speedzones this year as opposed to the handles on the old style.
comes with gel pad inside the heel that you can swap with a nike-air-type version, kinda hard to replace the liner without knocking the cushioning out of place. only complaint.
hiked inbounds at snowbird today, they performed wonderfully.
i would definitely recommend these.

These boots make me want to board more

That should say it all. I ride all mountain freestyle hardly any park, had Burton Sabbath previously. I love these boots. Truly a wonderful fit and getting more comfortable with use. The flex is perfect, plus i can adjust how tight they are anywhere on the foot, on liner, bottom or top which is very useful. Response from foot to board is awesome and i can walk around in them pretty easily as well. Seem to be pretty durable and i do expect so, the sabbaths where very durable. Oh and one of the best things, i can take them off very easily, i dont know if anyone else looks for that quailty in a boot but it does show how easy the lacing system is.

nice, warm boots, a wee bit snug

these boots will keep your feet warm and dry. hiking up a ridge in 3 feet of fresh? sliding and buttering in the spring slush? no snow or water seepage at all. this is a pretty stiff boot, and it will take a few trips to break them in, but once they're dialed in, they'll give you confidence to launch the booter without worrying about landing on the knuckle. I've put a lot of days in wearing these boots, and haven't had any trouble with the speed lacing system snagging or breaking, and it is very convenient being able to get your boots on or adjusted quickly when it's freezing or blowing or it's your turn on the bizzle.

Feels like a basketball sneaker

I have a pair from a few years ago. These fit like a glove. No hot spots. Feet never get cold. Heels always stay in place even when I keep them loose. Not the stiffest boot on the market, which is good. I previously had the Rulers and these are definitely softer than those as well as much more comfortable. I'm constantly messing with my laces throughout the day so the quick lace system is a godsend. I continue keep these on hours after riding, when I'm in the bar and never even think about loosening them up and it has nothing to do with how many Long Trails I've had. Best boot I've ever owned.

Amazing.

So warm, i have to take them off to let my feet cool off.
Just right flex, i can go from park to powder without touching the laces.
Best of all, no more sore feet.
If you're willing to spend a pay check or two, BUY THESE BOOTS.

Ions are warm, comfy, stiff flex boots

The Speed Zone lacing works pretty well. More convenient lacing than traditional lace-up boots. Allows you to put your boots on faster and take them off even quicker! This is my 3rd season wearing Ions and they're still as comfy and solid as the first year I got them.

My boyfriend loves these

My boyfriend used to have the Burton Hails and he always complained that they hurt his feet, but the Ions are perfect. He loves them and has gotten a few compliments on the white/green ones. He normally wears an 11.5 in shoes but had to get a 12 in these boots!

what is the deal with the mesh on the toe...

what is the deal with the mesh on the toe area. Other ions do not have this. Is it a model year difference?

Responded on

These are the 08/09 model.

Great boot but laces....

This boot is perfect for laying out carves but isn't too stiff, meaning u can still have fun jibbing. The only problem is the lace hooks don't always catch for the 09 model.
