Best Stomp Pad Ever!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had this on my Burton board for the past 6 years! I spend nearly every weekend shredding during the season and my board is starting to delaminate on the bottom.

However, this stomp pad is still firmly stuck on. The only downside is that it started to turn a shade of amber after the 4th year. The scraper bar does a great job at scrubbing off any snow underfoot before you strap back in.

I will get another when my new board arrives.

Didn't make it to my board

  • Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I didn't even get to put it on my board to try it. I pulled the adhesive backing off and half of the adhesive came with it. Judging from other reviews, mine wasn't an isolated instance.

Garbage

Complete garbage. Arrived with the glue already off. Automatic return.

Fell off

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

After only two or three runs with light use. Looked sketchy putting it on my board as the adhesive double sticky tape stuck to the clear pull tab plastic and not the stomp pad. Could maybe stick it on with epoxy I guess but I rather returning and not mess up my graphics

**UPDATE**
I bought a tube clear silicone for 2-3 bucks from Home Depot. Squirted a thin layer around the back of this thing and some on my board. Slapped it on and used some plastic clamps and my plastic scrapper to squeeze it on firmly. Bent my scraper slightly in the process but the end result was outstanding. This thing will not come off now and works great!

Still only two stars though as I could have lost this when it fell off. Should just come with a tube of silicone

Fell off on second use

  • Familiarity: I gave it as a gift

I bought this guy for my boyfriend who is learning to snowboard. He's learning pretty fast but is still confined to the blue groomers. I rode with him last week and he mentioned he was falling while getting off of the lift because he was slipping on his stomp-pad-free board. Skeptical, I quickly went on Backcountry and ordered the "solve to his problems." Needless to say... he may have taken a few falls while using his new found traction, at no fault of the Burton Large Scraper Mat.

So far it's worked fairly well, although I'm interested to see how it holds up over time. While taking the backing off to stick it to the board, the double sided tape started coming off of the stomp pad on the edges. Hopefully this doesn't cause the edge to come up, resulting in "more falling off of the lifts" for the bf.

UPDATE: The stomp pad fell off on the second use. Sounds like this is a reoccurring problem with this one. I'd go with a different product.

Fell off after 2nd day out

  • Gender: Male
  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Stomp pad worked great while it was there. 2nd day out it fell off somewhere on the mountain. Before applying the pad I cleaned the board very well and applied it very meticulously. It was extremely cold the second time I was out (16- 18 degrees) so maybe that had something to do with it.
I did buy the medium mat for my GF's board and hers seems to be sticking just fine. I had a devil of a time getting all the leftover stickum off my board though.

Great Product

Used it twice already and both times proved to be great. Good for scraping snow off your boot and for getting off lifts foot never slips.

Better for arched boots

This is a great stomp pad. It is made of hard rubber and appears to be very durable. However I decided to return it before I mounted it because of the way it fit with my snowboard boots. The scraper is about twice as tall as the spikes, making this more of a scraper pad than a flat stomp pad. My boots are flat across the bottom, making it teeter on the taller scraper portion of the pad. If you have a raised arch on the bottom of your boots this stomp pad will work great, you'll be able to steer, scrape, and keep your boot on the board while in the lift line. The pad is large and goes almost to the edges of the board. The clear is slightly foggy, but is still the best way to have a stomp pad and preserve your graphics.

great stomp pad

This stomp pad is great, I don't fall getting off the lift anymore and it really helps with my straight glides. Also great for just getting snow off your boot before strapping in.
It is on the large side (which I like since it provides more grip that way), but since it's clear I don't feel that it messes up my graphics at all.

Best stomp pad ever

I have this stomp pad on three boards. I love it! This pad provides the grip necessary when coming off the lift, or when shredding down the mountain with one foot out. I bought the same stomp pad for my wife and son, and they both love it as well.

I ride fakie/duck..Should this stomp pad be stuck horizontal, or vertical? THANKS!

It should be whatever direction you want. there is no rule on where/how you should place your stomp pad. You will probably get more traction if you place it vertical, parallel to your binding.

what is the dimensions of this mat? i want something to cover the entire base of my foot.

also, is this thing crystal clear? i want to preserve the design on the board, w/o obstructing view of it.

thanks.

Responded on

The dimensions are 7.5 inches by 5.5 inches. No this is not crystal clear. You can see through it but it will be a bit fuzzy. The mat works really well though. Worth it for sure.

none of them will be 100% clear and this is about as close as you will get. The adhesive that adheres to the stomp pad to the board makes it slightly milky.

You love it!
