I put a new pair of Malavita EST Bindings on my Custom X snowboard and they were as smooth as can be. I am a huge fan of the cap strap, big improvements from previous years. Ratchets work great and changing stance position is super fast with the est system. If you can upgrade to the EST bindings and boards I would highly recommend it.

No these are Burton's EST system which needs to go with a Burton ICS board. When buying Burton bindings for a non ICS board ensure that it has the baseplates and is NOT EST and then they will work.
Great ride

I teamed these with the Custom X and they work great together. The most notable difference in the design of the Malavita compared to other bindings is the shape of the strap. With the tapered strap it is easier to transfer the energy from your boots to the bindings and then to the board which results in easier manuals and quicker response. Essentially, you get to be lazier with this binding. The highback is shaped well and follows the natural riding position which also makes for a more enjoyable ride. After a full season of riding, they barely look used, which says quite a bit about durability. All in all, this is a great binding.

uuh how come some of the bindings look like the wings are unnattached and some look like they are attatched, for example the feats of a man 3/4 picture the wing is unattatched and in the others it is, is this just because of the left and right foot or what?
Jen Martin

The highback of the binding is attached the way a normal binding would be attached however there is a wing of the left and a wing on the right side of the binding that just extends from the normal highback. The purpose is to give you more lateral response when doing boxes or rails and buttering.

Are the EST's just a more plush version of the regular Malavita's, or are they specially designed to use with the channel system and not on any other boards like a Rome Agent Rocker?
Wooden Robots

The EST and non-EST versions are pretty much identical, but you are correct in that the EST bindings are made to work specifically with Burton's channel system. The regular malavitas will work with any board on the market.

The EST binding with a burton Channel board is like upgrading from a car with manual locks and windows, to fully automatic locks and windows. You don't have to have it, but it sure is nice and convenient. I Put the Malavita EST bindings on my new Custom X and changing foot stances and tweeking the board is as easy as cake with the EST system. Just loosen two screws, make the adjustment and screw them back down. Its nice not to mess around with base plates and 4 screws. The other huge advantage is the range you get with the channel system. When I'm riding in powder I like to throw my stance back as far as possible, with the channel system you get a lot more distance to play with. I would Highly recommend them.

I wear a size 10 Halo Burton boot and have a 158 custom flying V board, what binding do you recommend and M/L binding? I understand size 10 is a large binding but have also seen recommendations to get Med size bindings. please help!
Wooden Robots

Medium. That is your size for sure, it will be the best fit.
John Williamson

I agree that with a Burton size 10 boot, medium binders would be best, but other boot brands like DC and and 32 seem to be a bit more bulking. If you ever go with those brands or anything bigger than a 10, I would say go with a Large bindings and adjust the straps.

Wooden Robots

Nope, that is the size for your boot.
John Williamson

With a size 10 boot you are right on the edge of a medium binding and a large binding. If you want to easily jump in and out of the bindings and don't mind a little wiggle room, then go with the large bindings, if you want to spend a little extra effort adjusting straps and getting into the binding for super snug fit, then go with the medium bindings. All and all take your boots into a shop and test em out before you buy!

It depends on if he likes stiff or soft bindings. Stiff, then go with the cartels http://www.backcountry.com/burton-cartel-snowboard-binding and if he likes soft then go with the Missions http://www.backcountry.com/burton-mission-snowboard-binding

I got these in the CS blue. These are much lighter color than the pictures on the internet show. These are CAROLINA BLUE. The ankle strap is wider than the Cartels. These also have the B3 gel cushion in the heel and ball of the foot. Much more padding inside the highback as well. These are worth the extra money.
Really love it

It depends on you and what kind of binding you like. If you like a freestyle flexing binding then run the malavita. If you like an aggressive, stiff binding then the Co2 is right up your ally. Both are great bindings in their own right, but it depends on you and your preference.

Yes it will. EST bindings are made for channel boards. They will only work on channel boards. These bindings are awesome, great flex, really comfortable.

The est seem darker then the regular malavitas is that true or are the pictures just there to screw with me?
I got the regular ones for Christmas (too bad i got an est board so i am going to return them)and wondering if i should get the blue again or go with the black since the blue is really light, lighter than the pictures shown.
Wooden Robots

If I remember correctly the color is a bit lighter than the picture provided by Dogfunk. I think your binding is more accurate. Either way, the Malavita is awesome, once you ride it you won't care what color it is.

Bindings are all personal preference, If you like stiff bindings then get stiff bindings and vise versa, the Malavitas are a good medium flex. The bindings are great no matter what you are doing, check it out for sure, you will not be sorry. Great, comfortable, good fitting.
