Laying down the law, all over the mountain.

The Burton Ruler snowboard boot is a shred slipper for all-mountain rippers who are trying to make this their best season yet. The medium-stiff flex handles everything from steep trees to big park booters, with enough flex to hit some jib features if the mood strikes you. The Speed Zone dual zone lace system independently adjusts the lower and upper sections of the boot, so your feet stay put, and you have an extra degree of customization over your support. As with the rest of Burton's lineup, Shrinkage technology reduces your footprint by a full boot size, and that means less chance of dragging heels and toes. Flex Notches in the upper allow for an unrestricted flex, that blends solid support with the tweakability you want. When you overshoot a hardpack landing, you'll appreciate the 270 degree Airbags, which protect against heel bruises. If you're trying to stack up as many days as possible this season, you can count on the Ruler. It won't let you down.

  • Dual zone Speed Zone lacing system
  • Medium-stiff flex
  • Power Up 3D molded tongue
  • Imprint 2 heat moldable liner
  • Shrinkage footprint reduction technology
  • Dual-density cushioning
  • 270 degree Airbag cushioning

very nice snowboard boot

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is my first snowboard boot. It is amazing, light, comfortable, easy to get on and get off, supportive and responsive. It matches so well with burton flying v snowboard and est bindings.

Do not buy. Seriously...

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

With all of the boots I have bought and put through the wringer, these are the most disappointing. I have a pair of Burton moto's that are over 7 years old with a few hundred days on the mountain, and they are still holding up better than the Ruler's that have only seen 30 days in the snow. Once I broke them in, they were very comfortable and gave me plenty of support, but they began deteriorating very fast, starting with the laces and not soon after, the leather itself started blowing out on all sides. I know a couple other people who had the same problem. I am a seasoned rider and have a pretty good idea as to what a boot should take. If you plan on riding more than a couple days a season, do not buy these boots. If you are only riding for a couple days a season or less, there are much cheaper options that I'm sure will outlast these. (not to to mention the fact that these "speed-lace" systems are not any more convenient or fast than hand tying regular lace boots. In fact I believe they're more prone to malfunction than the traditional boots.

Be wary of updates

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I was replaceing a older burton ruler boot which was about 5 years old and was very happy with. Unfortunately the new updates I find are not updates at all...just ways to cut costs in the manufacturing process in my opinion. I guess I cannot blame companies for trying to make a stronger bottom line. My biggest falt is the old version had a heavy strap that would lock the top of the iner liner around the ankle that is now replaced with two small pieces of Velcro which is not ideal but cheep to make.

Michigan Mountain

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I initially ordered a pair of Burton Moto boots, but had to send them back because they weren't wide enough and squeezed my feet. The Ruler, however, fits true to size. Very comfortable boot that conforms to foot and offers plenty of support without feeling stiff or restrictive. I was in these boots for over 8 hours and I never had the urge to take them off. Your feet will stay toasty warm in these bad boys, too. I have used them in temps below 15 degrees, and my feet were still warm and comfortable. Last but not least, the lacing system is perfecto. Super quick lacing and unlacing doesn't waste any of your time when you want to get on your board.

These Boots Rock

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

These boots have a wonderful feel to them. They are super light, footprint technology keeps your toes and heels from dragging, quick lace system is better than the boa in my opinion, and the liner is super comfy.

Keep your feet toasty. Before I had boots with too much flex and they pinched all over the place. These are just right about mid range. I love them and recommend them to anyone especially for the price!

Not A Bad Boot

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

When i first got these boots i was stoked! tried them on in my living room, they fit awesome! However, when i got them it was summer so i didn't get to try them out right away. I've been riding them for the last month at least 4 times a week, more or less. now they have lost all stiffness, pretty much complete noodles, and when im riding they never seem to stay as tight as i want. and also when im riding a flat groomer i get horrendous foot pain, and maybe this has nothing to do with the boot, but for me, not nearly enough support.

These are the first snowboard boots I have owned and they are amazing! So comfortable and I didn't even have to break them in. I would suggest anyone buy these boots.

It is my first snowboard boots.

It is my first snowboard boots.
Very comfortable, good lateral support. Very comfortable lacing system of internal and external boots. Very convenient to take off one's shoes after a day of skiing. The sole is not slippery.
