I love the quality and cut of these pants. Buyer beware, check the size guide carefully. These are definitely a women's cut, not junior. I am a Woman's 10 and I bought the XL thinking they would leave just enough room for all my layers. Nope, way way too large, I could zipper and button them and still pull them down over my hips and butt. I'm going for a large because I like a loose fit but I suppose I could even fit a medium. Hope that helps!!!

Are the Burton Shayla pants good for skking in? I mean, are they too bulky or have too many pads? If so, can you recommend a pant that's good for both skiing and boarding?

They are not bulky at all. These pants fit great, that's what everyone tells me at least. They are not bulky.

Here are the waist sizes for a couple sizes. The inseam is going to be your biggest concern. XS: 32-33 Small: 34-35 Medium:36-37 and the inseam on the XS:29 Small: 30 Medium: 31. I would go with the inseam, the waist of all Burton pants can adjust to get smaller if you need them too.

I know it says in the title that it is a Woman's pant but it is a juniors pant. This will be too small for you. But check out the Gloria pant by Burton. It is the best women's pant Burton makes. http://www.dogfunk.com/burton-gloria-pant-womens

Because of your inseam you would wear an XL. The XL is a 32" inseam, and the Large is a 31". I hope this helps.
