Freestyle Boot, Zero Support

It is hard to give these boots an honest rating because of the great reviews so many others have given them. I agree that the boot is comfortable, warm, and very flexible. But the flexibility also means a total lack of support. If you are an aggressive rider by any means, or do any riding besides lapping the 400 vertical feet of park, DO NOT BUY THESE. Honestly, I am very disappointed in the total lack of support. Some would tell me that is what to expect from a "freestyle" boot, but these leave you no options of riding anywhere on the mountain, not even a cruise down a groomer from top to bottom on the mountain. I wouldn't describe these as just a freestyle boot, they are a beginner freestyle boot. I am an advanced rider, I do a lot of freestyle riding, but right now I am being held back by these boots and their lack of support. As one example, after an aggressive run through the super pipe I have to take a break for longer than the run was, just to let my feet catch up. I have been riding for 15 years and this purchase was very disappointing. The term "freestyle" should not be used if it cannot support any type of advanced or aggressive freestyle riding.
Very comfortable boot

I happened to try on the 2010 freestyle at a local store and they fit like a glove but I didn't want to pony up 2 bills for them. Came straight to Dogfunk and just my luck found the 2009 freestyle for just over a bill. Great fit on the size 8.5 I got with minimal heel lift, but with the dough I saved I upgraded the insoles and problem solved. Put in about 12 hours on these boots so far in day and night conditions and I have found nothing really to complain about except for a scuff on the right toes due to a hard icy landing. I absolutely love the red/black/white colorway, gets a lot of compliments! I have read that these boots do not offer enough support because they aren't stiff enough but I am here to tell you that they offer just right amount of support just where you need it. Freestyle or freeride these boots will work for both.
Good feel but color not accurate

These boots feel pretty good. They did not "mold to my feet' like others have suggested and i wore them on full, consecutive days.
My problem was more with the color of the "Basketball" boots. This website shows them as a browner color (which I wanted). But in reality, they were much more orange (pretty much the same color as the bottom of the boot.
I sent them back to DogFunk and I am waiting on my refund to buy another pair.
I have to give props to dogfunk for having the sickest return policy on the planet. I never hesitate to buy because I know they will let me return if I don't completely love the item!!!! NObody compares !!!!!

This is now the second set of Burton boots I have owned and they are delicious! Feel like a skate shoe, lightweight, flexable but stiff where you want it, and keep your feet warm and dry on freezing days! I would recommend this boot to all you casual, and comfortable people that dont really care what other people think, however you get a bonus because these things look tight!
awesome boots

So I just got them in the mail and threw them on to see how they fit and it was perfect. i was blown away by how light the boots were! I have dress shoes for work that weigh more. I got the red/blk/white ones and the colors are just like the picture. Lots of flex and very easy to walk in. Great boot!
all pros no cons

Super comfortable. Very warm. Quite a bit of flex...but the didn't need to be broken in. Got the basketball style. They do look exactly like a basketball...pretty orange compared to the picture. I'd definitely buy them again.
OK Boots

These are some pretty decent snowboard boots. No hot spots (for me), but they're very wide in the heel, even though the boot is the right size length-wise. If your having heel lift problems w/ these boots, remove the liner and get some foam pads to tuck under the tightening bands that go around the heel area until you have a real heel cup. After doing this, the fit is greatly improved. Boots are very warm so don't size too big, you won't need anything more than a thin smartwool sock down to -5 degrees.

As they are that soft, is there enough protection from them?

are you going into battle?...can you be more specific in the future plz...but these will be fine if you fall on a rail or something and are woried about banging your shins...but they dont have enough padding for huge drops, but i doubt you'd be doing that in the these boots, but if your worried about that kind of protection the look elsewhere...other than that, they are snowboard boots, and not low profile ones either so anything covered by the boot is going to be protected, like if ur worried about people steppin on ur feet or gettin ur litte toes crushed...you should still rephrase ur questions tho
Just started riding em

Rode these boots 3 or 4 times, in the red and white, they are sick. I had vans before and these are miles ahead. It feels like a shoe its so comfortable!!! No pain in my feet whatsoever and they work great over rails booters boxes and just plain mountain. Flexy as all getout I cant stand stiff boots so for me these would be about 6 stars.
these boots are the way to go if ur looking for good snowboard boots

I got these boots in red/black and they look nice! i love them. These boots are true to size. i wear 11 and thats what i got. If you like skate shoes youll love these. i put them on and they didnt even feel like boots more like the skate shoes i love to wear. they kept my feet toasty warm in 30 degree weather im sure they would do exellent in 3 degree weather. Burton Quality! the liners have cool padding in pressure points so you go home without aching feet. i tightend them as tight as i could and i had no fatigue in my feet or calfs like most boots would.theyre just great boots and i wouldnt purchase anything else exept Burton. i would recommend these boots to anyone. and yes i went over boxes and rails and they performed great plus i do alot of all mountain riding and they performed awesome over the jumps and what not, bottom line great boot without leaving a hole in your pocket!

I haven't tried this exact pair, but the Burton Hails I have run true to size, so I would assume all Burton boots would.
