Description

For those who like their bindings scantily clad.

When Burton released its new Ultra Capstrap, many people were shocked and appalled. ‘You can see right through it!’ they exclaimed. But after replacing their old toe straps with Ultra Capstraps, they changed their tunes. Burton cut out the center, shaving weight and causing the strap to mirror the shape of your boot’s toe. The result was a locked-in fit that doesn’t feel like a bumper on the front of your foot. The Ultra is compatible with all Burton men’s and women’s bindings, and it comes with hardware and dual component Smooth Glide buckles.**DISCONTINUED**

strap has bands around the top and front of boot, and then the toebox pokes out of the middle, making it impossible to fall off or even move

I was looking for an upgrade strap for my Spark R&D splitboard bindings - they use crap Bent Metal straps and after a season are showing a lot of wear. I was hoping to lose a little weight off the bindings in the process too.

The description of these straps is lame - they lack any hardware (besides the screws mounting the buckle to the strap) and don't include any ladder straps or risers. Fine if you're just upgrading existing burton straps, but not so good if you're replacing old, worn out stuff. I'm gonna have to rob stuff off some of my other bindings or order new ladders and risers. The retail price of $40 is a joke for what you're getting here - they should come with everything.

Glad I got them half price, otherwise they'd be going back.

In relation to snowboard bindings, "screws" etc. are exactly what "hardware" is. Ladder straps and risers are NOT "hardware", so I don't see a problem. You received the product exactly as advertised.

much better than the standard strap. these straps seem to put less pressure on your toes so you can ride with more comfort longer. you do need to make sure your heel is !all! the way in the back of the heel cup or else you will slip. definately reduce toe cramping on 8hr ride sessions in the park.

What are the differences (in terms of performance/comfort/etc.) between this cap strap and a standard one that only wraps around the front of the toe and is not transferable?

this one actually is not transferable ( actually called convertable)...and the only REAL difference between the stock cap straps and this is that this will give you a slightly more secure fit...burton just sells these to make more money

I know there are no plastic strips pictured, but I was still kind of surprised when the ultra capstraps arrived and there were no plastic strip thingies with them. The idea is that you have to use the plastic strips from your old bindings, but I had Burton bindings from 2003 with the over-the-top-type strap and the plastic strips they used were not compatable. I also could not find the strips by themselves for sale anywhere. I ended up cutting up pieces of my old bindings into the right shape and ghetto rigging it. On the plus side, these work just great despite the fact that I had to get creative with the plastic strips.

They lock your heel in tighter and remove pressure points that toes straps can create. So yes, better and more comfortable.

I bought the large CO2s from you guys and have it adjusted as small as possible and am still hitting the stops over my size 10 Ions. Can I just get the medium straps and swap them out?

These straps are very Burton binding specific. You could try and rig it somehow, but it would be a gamble.

Oh my god!!! Talk about cush. I rode my !#$ off this weekend in some deep pow pow at a small resort not to be named in CO and didn't have to loosen the straps on my front foot a single time. I went from having to unstrap and walk around after every other run to just riding all day long..

Highly recommended!

very nice straps...definately worth it. They are plush and fit very well on my boots (which are Burton).

Had troubles with the cap strap on the Technine Pro street bindings, they wouldn't stay on my toes. Bought the new burton version and fits like a charm on my bindings even though they aren't Burton. Feels great on the mtns. If you are going to buy these for a non burton binding, check and see if they will fit your previous straps cuz I've had friends not fit on their bindings

I bought these to replace the OG cap straps on my 06 P1's. The old straps hurt my toes a bunch, but these Ultra Capstraps are so kush. No more pain in my toes.

What size capstrap does anybody recommend for a women's size large binding?

according to burton's sizing charts, for a womens large binder, you would prolly want to roll with a Medium or Large. In your case, since you are right near the peak of a Medium, I would opt out for the Large so you aren't maxing out your strap adjustability on the Medium.
