With the Burton Capstrap, you can turn any Burton binding into a modern, high-performance, high-tech piece of gear. The Capstrap pulls your heel into the binding’s heelcup to give you a tight, solid fit and instant board response. Burton’s new, lightweight design eliminates excess material and fits more snugly over your toe for a more natural fit, quicker power transfer, and greater comfort.
alright I currently own the 2010 model burton freestyles. I was considering going off and getting new bindings, but the cost is killing me... I was wondering if the ultra capstrap can really make my bindings more comfortable and more stable on the hills and in the park rather then throwing away 250$ for a nice pair of highends. a burton rep opinion would be MUCH appreciated.
No it won't help that much, chances are your responsiveness problems have less to do with the capstrap and more to do with the overall rigidity of the binding. There is a distinct difference in the bendy plastic in the freestyle versus the stiffness of say the c02 or even the cartel.
IF YOU HAVE NEVER USED A CAP STRAP BEFORE, YOU NEED TO GET ON BOARD. THEY JUST WORK! AND WELL I MIGHT ADD. ALSO IF YOU HAVE AN OLDER SET OF BURTON OR OTHER BINDINGS FOR THAT MATTER THESE ARE A GREAT WAY TO UPDATE AND REVITALIZE THEM AND WHILIE YOUR AT IT TEAM THEM UP WITH NEW ANKLE STRAPS TOO. BOTTOM LINE THESE ARE WORTH THE MONEY AND INVESTING IN NEW STRAPS IS THE BEST WAY TO SAVE MONEY AND UPGRADE COMFORT FOR LONGER DAYS ON THE MOUNTAIN.

Do you have picture of your binding so I can walk you through it?
In short, you have to get a toe ladder and telescoping toe plastic piece to fit in the other end of the cap strap. From there, its really a matter of what binding you have as to how you fit it to the non-Burton tray. Usually you can just drill a small hole in both the toe ladder and telescoping ladder and that a bolt can go through your tray.
i can see that other similar questions have already been answered, but i'm gonna post this just to be certain for my particular situation...my apologies if its getting old, i just dont dig risking 50 bones on a piece that wont fit my binding. with that said, i have a burton freestyle v.11 binding wich i broke the toestrap off of. i was looking at this capstrap as a replacement but i'm just not sure if it will fit my binding, at least not without some extra piece. i've enclosed this picture of the binding as well as the small remainder of the broken piece which was holding the old toestrap on before it got trashed. will this new capstrap fit? do i need to buy any additional parts? any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks
Great question... don't worry about how many people ask :)
To answer it, you will need to call burton rider services or go into a local shop to warranty your toe slider. (the broken piece) Once you have that warrantied, you'll have all the pieces that you need to make these a 100% perfect replacement for your freestyles.
Not to be annoying but I'm still confused. Here is a pic of the over the toe straps on my old freestyle bindings. Do the Ultra Capstraps have what I need or do I have to buy toe risers? The toe risers on my bindings are permanently attached to the toe straps.
ohhh, man... good thing you sent that picture. You weren't kidding when you said you had old freestyle bindings. I think those were made in the 20's... haha, just playin'.
But for real, you will need the male ladder piece for the right side of your binder... as well as the telescoping toe strap for the left side (where the cap strap attaches to)
Dogfunk.com does not sell them but you can call Burton Rider Services Hotline at 1-800-881-3138 and they will guide you in the right direction.
My suggestion, spend a few more bucks and get these: (your feet will thank you)
Do the Ultra Capstraps come with toe risers or even ladder straps? The pic on the left is of 2 toe risers which I need to be able to attach the cap straps to my older Burton freestyle bindings.
no. they come in 3 sizes which should accommodate the boot sizes per sizing chart, so if you get a medium because you wear a size 8, and then decide to buy a pair of size 11s, they might not fit.
As long as you're not really changing the *size* of your boots, you shouldn't have a problem - as long as the toebox is mostly squarish in shape. I had an older pair of 32 boots that had a rounded toe and the burton caps didn't fit very well.
Most people that use them with other brands just rig them... I have done about 10-15 cap strap conversions in my day and they are pretty simple as long as you don't mind running some franken-style... and get creative with a dremel tool!
