What is the half-zipper for along the top of the waistline?

It is a zip in pant to jacket interface. Burton has stopped doing this on 2010 jackets and pants. But if you have an older jacket and pant they will fit just fine.

Since I am getting notices to review my gear, I will. I have only worn it inside, fits great, ran water from the faucet over it and it all beaded off very well, tried to rub some of that water into the fabric pretty hard but not much (well hardly any) soaked in. snow is still coming so I think these pants will continue to pass my tests-I am usually a 34-42, had to go with medium size, large way to big. happy so far.

ALL Burton pants and jackets feature zippered powder skirts for mating. (x3)

I have worn them a few times now and they not only look good (orange), but keep me dry. They also seem to keep me from getting too warm, though I have not been out on any really toasty days yet.

You will enjoy them.

I love these pants. They are made of a very high quality material that is very durable and very waterproof. They stayed completely dry after snowboarding in wet snow all day. The vent sips are super convenient on warmer days. I have not tested them on really cold days yet but due to the quality of the material I am sure they will be just fine while also wearing thermals.

This is a great pair. The leg vents are great.

I wore a thin base layer and nothing else under it. In 23 degree weather I was comfortable. Later in the day it warmed up to about 38 maybe a little into the 40's. I zipped the leg vents open on the lifts going up the hill, zipped them back up before moving off again.

Absolutely perfect. Great fit. Zips to my jacket, locking out wind and snow from the few falls. Would buy 2 more.

What do you recommend wearing under this...

What do you recommend wearing under this pant since it's not gortex and it's not insulated? Coldest weather I board in is probably 0 degrees. Thanks!

I would choose any of the Burton Dryride layering pieces. I would chose the wieght of the layering piece depending on how cold you get.

Burtons Dryride is great. Super comfortable. Super warm. Super worth it.

These pants are sick. I got a pair at the beginning of the season last year, they are super comfortable and breathable. I've worn them about 30 times and they are still in great shape. I just ordered a second pair in a different color.

These pants were great because they were the best bang for the buck... Unfortunately when I received them I had ordered Medium when I should have ordered a Large. I usually wear pants with waist size 32-34 and these pants were too tight. I had tried on similar Burton pants at a store and the mediums were perfect (even loose). Ultimately, I returned these and purchased some Burton Men's Shelter Gore-Tex Pant. They are awesome, I always stay dry and they have awesome vents. I highly recommend the Men's Shelter pant or even the vent pant if you don't want to spend so much....

These pants are nice and lightweight with zero insulation. But they keep you dry. Wearing some thermals underneath make them perfect for cold days, and the side and inseam vents are sweet for super hot days. My only complaint is that they run really long. For sig fit pants they sure are baggy. As long as you have your boots on they are fine, but once you take them off they are draggin on the ground, even with the little tab to hold them up.

I use the side snap to hold my pants up off the ground. This works well if you want to use them for skiing instead of the baggy look of snowboarding.

They are not neon orange, more of a burnt orange or pumpkin.
