Decent mittens for a great price!
I found these to be a great deal. I used them for skiing all winter in Jackson Hole. I mostly used my Northface e-tip liner gloves underneath instead of the ones provided with the mittens, just because I liked those for checking my phone on the lifts. These mittens were great for my purposes, meaning that I feel I got what I paid for. There are some days here when it is just SO cold that my fingers would be cold no matter what. I suppose you could buy some down mittens, but they are just so darn easy to lose that I never felt right investing too much money in mittens or gloves. Anyway, I give them a thumbs up.

how do these mittens work for biking in 32 degrees?
They are very warm mitts. My only complaint is that you can't really do anything with your hands while wearing them. I do understand that these are mittens, and it comes with the territory. So, my only suggestion with these are if you are going to be doing anything that you need dexterity, then maybe you should find gloves instead.
Cute and Warm
I bought these mittens for my Girlfriend; they keep her hands toasty warm!! She is learning to board and hasn't complained since we got em'. I went to the retail store and looked at the colors, the two black glove look a little cheap with the way the material was finished. I ended up buying the purple ones; they have bigger threading for the exterior which you can't really see in the picture. They are great gloves and look great if you don't mind the purple ones be sure to get them, you won't regret it. Hope this helps and enjoy the mittens!!
Never going back to reg. gloves!
I absolutely love these mittens!!!! First time I wore them (without the liners) It was about 30 degrees out and my hands were sweating like crazy. I work on my local resorts park crew in ohio and my old gloves got wet within five minutes and would end up freezing. The weather here tends to be either really cold or really wet or both and these gloves keep my hands warm and dry!!! I wore them for a good 7 hours and the only part of them that was wet was the goggle wiper on the thumb... That and the the fact that the plastic goggle squeegee seems too hard, like it will scratch my goggle lenses are my only complaints. But I would definitely recommend these to anyone!

Other Dakine Mittens I have looked at had a warmth index rating... does the Camino Mitten? THanks!
My hands are always freezing. These mittens are the warmest ones I've ever had. The iiners make them a little too snug so I wear the mittens alone. So far I haven't needed the liners because they're quite warm without them.
These mittens are great. I've never been able to keep my hands dry and warm on those sub zero days but I have not had a problem yet! The liners help but even without wearing them, my hands are still really warm. I ordered a medium and they are just slightly small. I always have to put hand warmers in my gloves (no matter what, poor circulation) and I could use just a little more room in the wrist and thumbs. According to the size chart I fit on the lower end of the medium size so I would just say order a bit bigger if you need the room.
Finally, warm hands!
I've spend most of my life living in cold climates (Colorado, Indiana, and now Wisconsin) and I have never found mittens that really keep my finger tips warm. Until now. The Dakine mittens are amazing. Just the liners or the mittens alone keep my hands warm and toasty. Combined, I can play in the snow and 0 degree weather for hours! Yay Dakine and Yay backcountry.edge!
Got a medium and they fit tighter than I normally wear my mittens but the tight fit really does keep your hands warmer. These come with mitten inserts which were awesome because companies always make inserts in a glove style. I like the mitten inserts because they keep my fingers together and warm, unlike gloves. I took these out to Colorado over break and I didn't even need to wear the inserts with these mitts because they are nice and warm on their own. But I did use the mitten inserts in a pair of warn out airblaster mitts that I like too much to not wear, even thought they're on the cold side b/c they're 2 years old.
I got these at a good price, so worth it. I only wish they had gore-tex technology in them b/c then they would be invincible. I'm not sure if it was the snow or my hands sweating but they did get a tad damp inside after a day hiking the park in CO (but not enough bother me so I'm thinking it was sweat).
good ski mittens
These are nice and warm, with a useful nose wiper on the thumb.
These mittens are super warm. I have only worn them with the liners in once and it kept my hands warm and comfy but destroyed my dexterity, it was nearly impossible to adjust my buckles or zippers. They are definitely warm enough to go without the liners though. My one qualm is that the cut widthwise across the palm is very wide compared to the length. I have long fingers and they fit perfectly length-wise but are very wide, almost like a narrow men's cut. However, they are so warm and comfy that it doesn't bother me enough to return them. I got the "lux" color and they look awesome with my purple goggles and green jacket.
I was a little wary of these mittens at first, but after skiing in them on a powder day, I was wary no more! Just like other reviews have said, these mittens are nice and plush on the inside without being too fluffy. They also do an excellent job keeping my hands warm. I wear a thumb brace when I ski, so there's not enough room for the liners, but I haven't felt that I have REALLY needed the liners yet. One thing that I really like about these gloves is that the cinch cord is underneath the cuff. It works nicely and it doesn't look as dorky when you wear the gauntlet part of the glove on the outside of your jacket. Good job Dakine!
Super cute and VERY warm!
This mittens are my new FAVORITE winter accessory! They fit perfect(true to size) and are the warmest I have ever owned. I bought the Halftone color and am in love with it.
I haven't had a chance to wear them in the snow yet- but am confident they will do their job, and even if they don't- I still love them because they are dang cute!
I have poor circulation, almost impossible to keep the pinkies warm.
With the liner I can stay warm in 20 deg. weather for over an hr just hangin. A first! Thumbs a little tight with the liner, but still cumfee.
Soft inside and warm.
These mittens are really plush so it feels like your hands are surrounded by a pillow but it isn't too puffy so it interferes. The lining is also crazy soft and I love putting my hands inside. Very warm as well.
Great Mittens - poor sizing chart
These mittens are great, keep my hands very toasty and dry, and my hands get cold easily.
The sizing chart doesn't help much though, because it doesn't address your finger length. I had to exchange them for a larger pair since my fingers are so long. I also think the thumb is a tad tight when you are wearing the liner, so I just don't wear them and my hands stay plenty dry.
All in all, a great buy!
Wore em for the first time during an epic powder weekend. The sizes run small (length from finger to wrist is EXACT- i like my mittens with some space). couldn't wear the liners in the mitts but the fleece lining keeps hands dry and warm. sometimes if i ride hard, my hands get sweaty, but i didn't notice any clamminess. The thumbs are a little tight, but I guess it's worth it if they stay dry. Hope they last a few seasons. I hate stuff that doesn't last. The wrist straps aren't elastic, but the cuff cinchers are.
