DAKINE Heli 11L Backpack - 660cu in

With just enough room for a compressible warm layer and some extra calories, the DAKINE Heli Winter Backpack is an essentials-only bag that's ready to tote your minimalist kit. Because it's designed to carry either skis or a snowboard, you can choose your preferred method of descent depending on the day and snow conditions.

  • Vertical snowboard carry and diagonal cable ski carry tote your ride while you hike (that is, on those days when your helicopter is grounded)
  • An external shovel pocket keeps your avy gear handy
  • Insulated H20 sleeve helps prevent your nourishing fluids from freezing
  • Fleece-lined pocket lets you stash your goggles when not in use

Bottom Line: Get in the chopper.

I need a small pack for putting food, an extra layer or two, some gloves goggle lenses, and other goodies, i want to be able to wear a pack through the park, so a low profile fit. does this stick out a lot? should i go with the heli pro, this or the baker?

This is the smallest of the 3 packs you are looking at. the heli-pro is the largest. this bag should fit all the stuff you mentioned plus it has the insulated h2o hose which the heli-pro does not. hope this helps.

AWESOME PACK!

I've used this pack for 2 seasons and it's still in excellent condition - it's super durable. It stays nice and flat on your back (unlike all other board packs), so you can squeeze through tight glades easily and wear it on the lift. It fits plenty for day hikes, but you definitely want a larger pack for over-nighters. You can mount the board vertically or horizontally which is great for hiking or riding a snowmobile. And when you're not using the front pouch for a shovel, it's a great place to stow your jacket. The hydro sleeve works well with a 50oz Camelback, but you could probably go a tad larger(60-70oz maybe?).

I use a Camelback 50oz bladder. But you could probably fit a 60-70oz one in there.

Good Pack

I needed something smaller to use when snowboarding, and taking to concerts and to bring stuff to work. This is a nice size to pack up with a few soda cans or can fit a couple shirts and pair of shorts. The goggles pocket up top is nice for personal items.. wallet, contact case, deodorant, sunglasses. I use it as a lunch box and/or put my gym clothes inside, with shoes hanging out the top snowboard holder. Keep in mind this is skinny and you can't fit a heck of a lot but if you're on the run a lot this is a nice guy purse.
