DAKINE Mission Backpack - 1500cu in - 2010

Funny story: you were on your way to class with your laptop stashed in the DAKINE Mission Backpack, and suddenly your snowboard flew off the vertical carry-straps and you found yourself at the mountain. Ahhh well … sounds like physics will have to wait. Thankfully you saw fit to stuff your goggles in the fleece-lined top pocket and fill the organizer pockets with tasty morsels for the lift.

Bottom Line: One would almost think you were on a mission to ditch class and shred from the start.

I've had this one for about 2 years now and I couldn't be happier. It is such a great pack with a ton of great pockets. I use it for school, camping, boarding, and even a great laptop carrier. I definitely give this bag a 10! If you or your kids or someone you know is looking for a new pack get em this one.

Yes, I fit mine in there all the time. But I'd keep it in the sleeve for good measure. Don't want your pack getting dropped and your laptop gettind destroyed.

Dope backpack

By:
February 9, 2011

This backpack is awesome! It's very comfortable and isn't bulky. The backpack material seems very durable and tough. It has a plenty of space for my laptop, goggles, books, etc. Perfect pack for school and the mountain. Only complaint I have is there is no water bottle pocket, otherwise I love it. Highly recommended to anyone.

I got the mission camera bag expecting a water bottle pocket as well and there was none. It is just a normal pocket with no mesh lined containment system.

There is no water bottle netting anywhere that I have found, Christian. Maybe in an older model.

There is a water bottle compartment on the side. You unzip it and it has netting in there and a drawstring that will keep your bottle in.

Hey Colin,

Its not going to be completely waterproof but you don't need that to take it snowboarding. It will hold up just fine. And yes, it will carry a snowboard vertically.

All Around Perfection

By:
January 30, 2011

This backpack is the most versatile thing I have ever strapped on my back. Stuck with me through a full year of college, and after that went on a full DCI US tour with me. I have never had a single problem with this backpack. It has a ton of space to fit anything/everything you could imagine. It has an extremely spacious main compartment that also has a laptop pocket and extremely durable lining. The front pocket has 4 pen slots, 2 phone or mp3 player slots, a back wall zip pocket, and and a deep bottom. Worked out perfectly for the things I needed to be able to get to quick. The outside pockets are great for smaller things you may need like flashlights or a bottle of tylenol. Considering I am not a snowboarder, the goggle pouch works perfectly for sunglasses as well, even spacious enough to hold two pairs at one time when I was on tour. The straps are padded very well and the backpack sits squarely on the back with a nice comfortable fit; would be perfect for riding. The backpack itself is made out of super-durable materials. I've thrown this thing around a lot in the time I've had it, and it has never come out with as much as a scratch. I could probably pass it off for brand new if I tried.
This backpack is pretty much perfect. I have absolutely no complaints, and I would HIGHLY recommend this backpack to anyone. It's a great pack whether you're looking for one for school, or one for riding and heavy usage.

Perfect

By:
November 16, 2010

This is a sweet pack. It fits my 3' binder and laptop perfectly. I also have room for my math book and other things. MY headphones fit great in the goggle case on the back side. This is an awesome balance for a bag that will be used for snowboarding and school. One problem would be that it is hard to access the laptop sleeve when the pocket on the back is full. Not a big deal tho.

It has a lightly padded laptop sleeve in the main compartment, but it's not a dedicated pocket like some other packs. I slipped my 13" Macbook Pro into it no problem I'm guessing it could fit up to 15" depending on the laptop

The Burton Shawn White Pack has the best laptop compartment ever, at least if they haven't changed the design from the one I got a few years ago, I would check it out if you're looking to protect your laptop

Camera is safe

By:
November 30, 2010

First day riding with this I flipped over and off a rusty pipe jib, a few ligaments in my shoulder didn't make it out alive, but my $1200 camcorder in the nape/goggle pocket came out fine, not a scratch!!!

I'll update after a few more days of riding but so far it's comfortable, roomy and secure thanks to the straps. Great price too

Mission Backpack for Apple Macbook 15 inch

By:
January 5, 2011

I recently bought the Mission Backpack to use in the city and on the mountain. It is a great pack and I would highly recommend it to anyone needing new kit. One fact I could find when researching was whether a 15 inch macbook pro would fit into the laptop sleeve within the pack. I am pleased to say that it does indeed fit (quite adequately in fact). However, it should be noted that if you intend to put your goggles in the goggles/glasses section then the laptop may not fit as well as it otherwise would. Also, the top of the laptop will poke out a little bit - BUT you can fit the laptop in a neoprene case within the Mission backpack - awesome. You'll be truly protected all year around.

So Mac lovers, you can now have the best of both worlds!
