Warm and durable

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've had these mittens for 5 years now... They are super warm. I almost always use them without the liners, b/c even w/o the liners my hands get so hot. The material is also very durable. Like I said, I've had them for 5 years and they're still going strong. I've gotten so used to them that I can even tie my boots with them on. These are awesome!

Not true to size

  • Gender: Male

Runs really small, If you have big hands look elsewhere. I am 6'4 180 lb size 12.5 shoe. The XL size mitts were too small for me. My last pair of gloves were from dakine and they fit me fine. These mitts are to short moth in the main finger area and at the thumb. I would return them but with return shipping cost to backcountry.com coming in around 25% of the original cost I'm gonna try to sell them locally

these are truly great mittens. I am a first time mitten user after years of wearing good quality gloves for my crazy skiing adventures. Winter after winter of cold hands and some great suggestions from friends and I got the DAKINE Scout Mittens. Living in the VT I need something that will stay dry, keep hands warm and still be functional while playing hard all over the Mountain.

Great Mittens

Bought these mittens expecting an average quality of a glove.. These mittens are great! fit is awesome and they are extremely warm! come with inserts which is really nice! My hands sweat in them every time I use them. Best mittens I have owned by far

Nice Mittens

Great mittens, are very water and windproof and were too warm with included mitten liners. My only small complaint is they seem to run a little small in length.

Exactly what the doctor ordered

I had glovers but they just were not doing the job, I have always been skeptical about the fingers being usable in Mittens. Well not anymore. Keep my hands and fingers hot, even when I take gloves off to capture a pic or vid, fingers are frozen when I slip em back on, within a min they are nice and toasty again.

And the goggle scraper comes in real handy during storms

Not as warm as expected.

I tend to have cold fingers and toes when boarding, so I ordered these 1 size larger than usual to leave room for heat packs. I wear a Medium in Mechanix gloves, so I ordered a Large in these mittens and put a heat pack in each hand in between the fleece liner and the outer shell. The temperature was in the single digits with the wind chill dropping below zero at times.

These mittens were toasty on sunny days with the temp in the 20's without heat packs.

These Mittens are the best. I recently went boarding and it was freezing out, yet I had to take off the liners because my hands were sweating. This mits are the real deal and I love em!

Toasty and Dry

I had a chance to try out these gloves tonight, and they performed admirably. It was pretty cold, and I never used the liners, and yet my hands stayed warm all night. I tend to pull off my gloves a lot, so having the liners on would have impeded my ability to use my hands, so I decided against using them unless I needed them. They were warm enough on their own, and even once my hands got so cold it became hard to use them, I'd put the mittens on and have toasty fingers in a matter of minutes (which I attribute half to the build quality of the mittens, half to mere fact that all my fingers are now in contact with each other and can warm up faster). The goggle wipe is only on the left thumb, which is nice so that if you have to wipe your nose, you still have a remaining thumb to do it with. Though having the goggle wipe at all is quite nice.

Great mittens, great price, so why 4 stars? Because I'm picky, and ideally I'd be able to have a mitten with a zippered pocket on the top so I could drop a hothands packet in there to keep my fingers super warm all the time. Like I said, I'm picky, but in my eyes that would flat-out be a better mitten.

Killer Mittens

Just had a week with these guys in South Lake Tahoe. Moderate temps meant I never used the liners - my hands were plenty toasty the entire time. Nice tough cordura-like material, great fit and plenty of mobility. I've used the liners on their own for snowshoeing and similar activities and been very pleased. Think of'em as a two-fer. Highly recommended, will never go back to gloves.

Great mitt, keeps the snow out and heat in. I wore them today with some cold weather cycling gloves I have - it was between 20-30ish, but my hands stayed toasty. They'd probably be warmer with the included mitten liners. They have a strap to tether them to your wrist and the gauntlets are super easy to cinch up around your jacket sleeve. The left mitt also has a little rubber tab to squeegee your goggles. Wear the mitts, wear the liners, wear both, put your own liners in them... you've got a lot of options with these.

First pair of mittens and they are super warm. Doubt i'll ever have to use the liners that come with. Mittens are obviously bulky and less tactile but i'll trade that for the all day warm they provide. Great Mitten for the Price.

busted when I got em'

They were nice mittens, but when I received them, the cuff cinch was broken. Love BC.com's return policy! No complaints

I just got these mittens. They are bad a$$! They fit and feel like greatness. Didn't give 5 stars because I haven't taken them up to the slopes.
