Demon Snow Escape Elite Shovel - 2009
The untouched snow just outside the resort has you and your buddy’s name all over it, and the Demon Snow Escape Shovel Elite and included probe prepare you if an avalanche buries your partner. Make sure you both are carrying this aluminum shovel-and-probe combo and a beacon before you head out, and make sure that both of you have the knowledge and skills to use your safety gear properly. Otherwise, the Escape is just a glorified kicker builder.
- Telescoping shaft permits better leverage for digging through heavy snow and debris
- L-Shaped handle features a snow pick for breaking through ice chunks and a compass for navigating avalanche terrain
- The 270cm aluminum probe fits into the hollow shaft and unfolds quickly when needed
- Shovel and shaft can be separated for easy storage and packing

My biggest beef ith this kit is that the probe is only 185 cm, not the advertised 270 cm. If the probe was any longer i seriously doubt it would fit in the handle, in addition the probe uses a couple small knurlled circles to tighten the probe which makes setting up with gloves on a challenge. Other than the probe the shovel is decent and build quality looks good. but for the price of the combo it is a reasonable setup.
