One company that is doing things differently is Arbor snowboards out of Venice, CA. This small board builder is still owned and managed by the two guys who founded it, Bob Carlson and Chris Jensen. These two use unique all wood top sheets and other environmentally friendly materials to build boards that are as good to look at as they are to ride. Last season found Arbor boards on the best of lists in many snowboard magazines. Long time pro rider Mike Basich can be seen dropping out of helicopters and riding monster rails on his favorite Arbor board. Arbor snowboards are for the rider who doesn’t need to follow the crowd to know what is cool.

Description of Arbor Element Snowboard:
The Arbor Element Snowboard reigns over big-mountain terrain, whether it's steep, deep, or a nervy Coastal Range combo. The koa wood topsheet adds rich color, and the all-natural wood core gives you the hair-trigger response and the strength to laugh at gnarly terrain. Go ahead and spin off that cornice—the Element Snowboard's carbon fiber strut gives you a lively pop without messing with your spin initiation or landing recoverability. Arbor constructed this all-mountain board with a progressive sidecut to provide easy turns, and to give you high-speed control when you point it down a chute.

Bottom Line: On any big-mountain terrain, this Arbor Snowboard is in its element.

I would kill a puppy for this board.   12-02-08

Riding this board is like entering a cheat code against the mountain. strap in, A, B, A, B, select, start; and you're off. For starters, the base is wicked fast. You will read reviews that say this thing cooks, but in truth it doesn't cook; it roasts. In terms of flex, one can ride down the mountain in a back butter a hold it at speeds that are unreal. It welcomes charades, and willlingly takes on the shape of a banana. The edge hold is supurb, in fact I dare you to try to get this sled to loose edge even at fanatical speeds. I double dog dare you. It simply can not be done. Even more suprising, is that with all this, Arbor found a way to eliminate the effort needed to initiate, control, and land the smallest jibbers to the mind-altering overhangs; i other words, just like the distinguished Dr. Pepper, this boards pop comes complete with 23 lucious flavors. To be true, one pitfall is that this brute is a lil bit thin in the waist, so clowns need not apply. No larger than a 11 or 12 (and thats pushing it). This translates that the Element holds no P.h.D. in parks; i.e. boxes, rails, ect.. It will get the job done, just not as elegantly as a true park piece. So If you throw all these ingredients into the fire, mix in a crystal clear natural wood topsheet,(in your choice of Koa or the ellusive banboo) and you have a board; nay, a weapon with which to slay more mountains than the gods themselves.

Just rode the Element in Breck for 4 days straight and loved it!! In fact I almost don't want to give it too many compliments because it was nice having a board that I only seen 1 other person on the mountain have. This is the first time I've ever gotten random comments from people on the lifts and just sitting there strapping in about how sweet a board I had. Now for the performance, GREAT!! I love how it handled everything from the groom trails and small park action to the 5 inches of powder we had. Has a little more flex then my previous Arbor Draft that I was a big fan of. If you like to do a little bit of everything on the mountain then this is your board.

i love this board, period. i think the guy above me with the a, b, a, b, select start is gonna start a war playing contra III, but in the meantime i am sure we are both digging out boards on the slopes. i had a straight park board, ride dh, and obviously it didnt perform too well on the double blacks. i do agree this board is less of a master on the park, but with that said it rules the mountain and i can still rip a few tricks in the park with ease. support arbor!
