Description of Burton Outlast Tech Jacket - Men's:
The Burton Men's Outlast Tech Jacket provides instant climate control. Burton lined this waterproof breathable Storm-lite shell with Outlast, which is a phase-changing material that cools you down when you're hiking for turns and warms you up when you're riding the chairlift. If the Outlast lining isn't absorbing heat fast enough, unzip the Outlast Tech Jacket's venting chest pockets and mesh-lined pitzips. Air flows into the Outlast tech Jacket's pitzips and out the chest vents, carrying heat away from your body. Store your pass in the stealth pass pocket, and keep your goggles safe in the specially designed pocket when you're in the lodge. Burton also included a detachable hood so you can customize the Outlast Tech Jacket to the weather.

Bottom Line: The Burton Outlast Tech Jacket has more phase-changing technology than most comic book superheroes.

This coat is more of a shell. It doesn't really have any insulation in it. You'll have to layer up when its really cold out. I'm getting cold wearing it in 30 degree weather (have only a t-shirt on under it) Because of the removable hood, i find it impossible to wear a hooded sweat shirt under it, unless I wear it over my head otherwise ya gotta bunch it up. It comes with a set of Burton in ear headphones but they sound horrible and mine stopped working completely. This coat is more suited for later winter early spring when its warmer. There are cheaper coats by Burton with more insulation. Nice looking coat though

Pictures really don't do it justice. It's a really nice denim/tweed type look, in a bluish/greenish color. Orange/brown Autumn-looking liner. It's a really really nice jacket with all the features and very well-made. One of Burton's nicest jackets. If you like or don't mind removable hoods, and are looking for a warm shell jacket, you can't go wront.

After owning the jacket for about a year and riding in British Colombia in 30 degrees and lower conditions this jacket is fantastic. First off check the specs, they clearly state that it is a shell. Second the hood is removable and therefore you CAN wear a hoodie with the hood off, but surprise surprise, you can also wear a hoodie with the hood on. When you put on the jacket put your hood on your hoodie up on your head, then layer the jackets hood on top of your hoodie, then lay them back. You'll forget that they're there. PROBLEM SOLVED. But all in all the jacket was the most comfortable jacket i have worn to date. I never once got cold, never got wet, and it fits perfectly. And do not forget that it IS a shell, so if you are in the market for a warm jacket, please check the specs and see if it is insulated. Rather than buy a shell then complain about it being a shell later.
