Description of Forum Kicker SLR Snowboard Boot - Men's:
Slay the park and pipe in your lightweight Forum Men's Kicker SLR Snowboard Boots. These boots feature Forum's speed lace system, so you don't waste valuable riding time dinking around with pain-in-the-ass regular laces and trying to get them tightened just right. Air cartridges, arch supports, and EVA midsoles give the Kicker SLRs plenty of cushioning for hardpack conditions and stomping that cab 720. Forum's Gold Cuff Links internal harnesses pull your feet against the backstay for excellent heel hold and comfortable riding.
Bottom Line: Dominate the park in your Forum Kicker SLRs.
Sick boots. I got these on sale so they are really worth the money in my case -- I got the Black/Black version. These boots are definitely not heavy; the midsole is very light and the upper section is not bulky. The outsole is grippy as well.
At first the lacing system was stiff and took a little getting used to. But after figuring out which tab loosened which lace, and after pull them through the lace guides more, it became easier to get in and out. However, the liner didn't feel as "anatomical" as other boots (such as Burton). The insides of the liners didn't have much of a contoured, anatamical shape, and there were no J-bars to add to the heel hold. The "footbeds" (if you can even call it that) is actually an insole that looks like it's been cut half the length of a full length insole. It looks more like an orthotic arch supporter rather than an orthodox, bona fide, full length footbed. Anyway, the foot hold wasn't bad, but it was just odd that Forum would design such a thing.
I also didn't really like the power-strap on the liner. It made it a hassle to get it out of the way every time I laced up. I don't even use the power-strap. Instead, I took it out of the tongue-guide and velcroed it together and shoved it into the side of the boot where it wouldn't get in the way so much.
The "articulating" cuffs on this boot was pretty good; I'd say the flex would be a solid medium and it isn't too stiff nor too soft.
Overall, these boots are an excellent alternative to "speed-zone" styled boots. If you don't want to spend a million bucks on Burton Ion's or SL-9's just so you can try the speed-lacing system, try a pair of these Forums. The lacing system is extremely similar, but at a cheaper price, the Forum SLR's are a way better deal.
I bought these and the Burton Ruler to compare and contrast for the best. These boots have a great liner that keeps your foot tight and allows no heel-lift. The Burtons liner was loose and made the whole boot squishy. These boots almost have a cuff making 2 parts from top to bottom which helps them keep flexible. There is not a lot of extra bulkiness on the shell so these boots are also slim.
I got these boots and my first thought was "Hey! This is nice and easy to put on and tie up!" no hassle at all! But after half a run, both my feet were cramping horribly and if felt like my arch went flat. These boots have absolutely no support. If you're going to buy these, get some high quality insoles to throw in there.
