No. They wouldn't help you at all. The Matix Welder Pant uses rich twill material to keep you comfortable as you watch Discovery Channel specials on welding, and these chinos include a cell phone pocket in addition to the standard old four pockets that come on other non-welding pants.

Bottom Line: Strut your stuff, but stay out of the Welder shop.
