Description of Smith Holt Skullcandy Audio Helmet:
Wear the Smith Holt Skullcandy Audio Helmet on the slopes and in the skate park too. This brain bucket's got it all: AirEvac design maximizes helmet and goggle airflow to prevent fogging in the winter, and the convertible ear pad kit adapts for use when you're riding on cement instead of snow. And whether your board has wheels or not, the Holt's bombshell ABS Construction protects your noggin' when things go awry. The standard audio jack goes straight from your ear pads to your mp3 player, or even a cassette player if you're the die-hard salty old-school type.
Bottom Line: Even if you haven't hit it big in the videos, your rides (and falls) deserve a soundtrack.
This helmet is awesome. First of all the sound system in it is great. Skullcandy makes some good speakers with awesome sound.
For those new to an audio helmet the cord plugs into the bottom of your left earpiece and then about 10 inches down has volume control with a clip on it to attach to the top of your coat or shirt. From there the cord continues to plug into your i-pod or mp3 player. It just has a normal headphone jack along w/ a smaller jack for certain cell phones.
As for the helmet itself, I can't complain. I use it mostly for snowboaring. It fits very comfortable and is light enough that I often forget I'm wearing it. It's comes with vents to keep your head from sweating to death but is warm enough that I rarely have to wear a beanie to keep my ear and head warm enough.
As for size, just measure your head and go w/ what the size chart says, it's right on.
One last thing with the speakers. At high speeds you may not be able to hear super well. Let's just say they aren't powerful enough to blow your eardrums, but plenty loud enough to hear unless you're half deaf already or going down the hill in a 40 mph head wind.
I'm completely satisfied.
This helmet is the best. It fits well and it looks great. I love the audio factor as my ears don't hurt after half a day of skiing. This helmet fitted well with my smith phenom goggles and it didn't have any gap.
I haven't had a chance to use the helmet yet, but it fits great and is very comfortable. Only two minor complaints; the air vents are opened by removing a piece of foam from the inside which is under the liner, it's not difficult, but can't be done very quickly. Also, the Velcro attached to the helmet is small and one came off as soon as I tried to pull out the liner. I would suggest either buying some good glue or even replacing the Velcro with larger, better quality stuff.
