Vans Mantra Snowboard Boot - Men's
Since 1966 Vans has been putting shoes on the feet of skaters and surfers. Their canvas shoes with gum rubber soles gripped onto slick piers and skinny skate decks like nothing else before it. In short time their waffle pattern sole and colorful uppers became synonymous with southern California board riding culture. Throughout the '70s and '80s skatedecks grew bigger, surfboards got smaller, and music got louder. It was during these fast times that Vans solidified their reputation with legendary skateboarders and original punk rockers, Tony Alva and Steve Caballero. To this day, Vans shoes have been worn to more skate missions, mosh pits and surf breaks than any other.

Vans reintroduces the Men's Mantra Snowboard Boot this season as an excellent entry-level boot for budget-minded riders. The hand-sewn VSS liner features a one-pull lace closure, and the Achilles cup locks your heels into your boot to keep you on point as you ride. Vans' technically advanced Pro-Flex Snowaffle Outsole provides stiffness and support while you ride, yet gives you grip on icy parking lots. EVA midsoles provide cush for those bone-jarring flat landings. Wrap all these features into the classic skate shoe look, add a killer price, and you're ready to rip.

Bottom Line: Everyone should start with a good Mantra.

The Vans Mantra is an excellent value oriented boot. I found them to be more comfortable in the store than boots costing twice as much. I went into the store prepared to spend up to $300 and walked out with these; I think that says something. The liners take about 4 days to pack, they are true to shoe size, and have a good speed lace system for the liner. They also work very well with my Flow bindings.

These boots are great except for one thing: The inner lace up system bites hard into the inside ball of your ankle. I thought it could have just been my feet but I spoke to another snowboarder with a more expensive model of vans boots and he had the exact same problem, so I think its the vans system that is at fault. It was so painful I do not plan to use them again

Great boots. Look good, and they don't look cheap like some boots do. You need to order 1/2 size up, otherwise they won't fit.
