Employee Gear Closet - Dana Gershenoff

by Toni Isom

Dana Gershenoff is our Partner Marketing Manager here at Backcountry.com. When she’s not dressing up her dog Otto in silly costumes, she spends as much time as possible zooming around the mountains on various contraptions— telemark skis, skate skis, mountain bikes, and trail running shoes to name a few. Trail running happens to be Dana’s favorite source of summer adrenaline. This backcountry bolt of lightning chooses her running gear first by examining its technical features and then by finding out whether or not it comes in periwinkle. You’ll know you’ve been graced with Dana’s presence when a streak of periwinkle flashes by you on the trail. We asked Dana for her favorite pieces of trail-friendly gear. Some of it she liked enough to buy in black or white. In no particular order, here are some things Dana won’t pound pebbles without.

Montrail Continentail Divide Trail Running Shoe

These shoes are super stable, light, and fit snugly; no blisters (yeah!). They’re not too clunky —especially for this klutzy girl. I’ve torn up my knees and elbows falling so much, people wonder if it’s from mountain biking—these shoes keep me stable and quick on my feet so no falls yet with these shoes (knock on wood). I was in another brand for ten years and swore that I would never switch—complete convert to Montrail! Comes with periwinkle shoe laces.

prAna Sugar Mini Skirt

Shorts underneath the skirt! It’s fun having feminine clothes for the trail (finally!). There’s nothing like trail running uphill in the Sugar and passing some guy puffing his way up on a mountain bike. It’s stretchy and super comfy and does not bunch at all! What fun to be a girl on the trail! Comes in a periwinklish hue.

Mountain Hardwear Tech Tee

Lightweight, soft and attractive. This tee doesn’t fit as short as many shirts do; covers the midriff well so you don’t get sunburn in the space between your shirt and shorts. It does not collect the stink, so when grabbing a sandwich or ice cream bar after a long trail run I don’t have to worry about being stinky!

Ibex Pingo Jacket

Cool and lightweight for those mornings when we see 40 degrees on the thermometer. Wool breathes really well and wicks the moisture well when it warms up. This does not hold the stink either! Comes in my favorite color!

Salomon Trail 3/4 Tights

Perfect for night running in summer when I’m trying to catch KP, one of Backcountry.com’s Inventory Analysts, during the Wasatch Back Relay. Great support around the knees, perfect for cooler nights or mornings when full length pants are too warm, and has a good waistband that does not fall down.
