Burton Player Flannel Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Women's

So this thing does what it says. It dries quick and it's warm. I've also noticed that it's so thick that it pretty much blocks the wind. I use it hiking, biking, and as a base layer (it's long enough that it will hang below most jackets). I've also used it as an outer layer in the spring. Three stars because I wish it had a little bit of stretch, which would make it a LOT more comfortable. Also, it has a boyish cut (straight up and down, which means tight on the chest and hips and loose in the waist for us ladies...).

Cilla Hip Pant - Women's

Cilla Hip Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 May 21, 2011

I have had these pants for about 6 months. I recently fell in love with them. They are very lightweight, and cover about half of my knee (I'm 5'5") - so I rarely use them when snowboarding unless it's really warm. But... I sleep in them all the time. And now I use them a lot for hiking and bouldering. And fyi - they are so light, that I wore them out in the sun for a few hours and got a tan right through them... I gave them 4 stars cause I wish they were a tad longer and a tad thicker.

Just what I wanted

Burton Cadence Pant - Women's

Burton Cadence Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 March 28, 2011

These pants are baggy! Loose and long. The tech is good - water beads right off. They are not really the best at cutting the wind and if you use them on a really cold day you will need some heavy layers (at least there's plenty of room).

The grass stain is a mustard green color. The black and the grass stain have a subtle pattern on them. I think it's fine on the grass stain - but it looks kind of cheap on the black.

The satin lining is awesome - makes movement really smooth...

The old standby

Burton AK 2L Altitude Jacket - Women's

Burton AK 2L Altitude Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 March 28, 2011

AK cant be beat. Waterproof - windproof - breathable. It's great quality. And this years model is at least a few inches longer than previous years. And I would argue it fits bigger than previous year models - which is nice. Not sure who Burton is making these jackets for - but I think they fit awkwardly on almost everyone that I have seen wearing them (except for the least curvy of girls).

AK lasts forever - so get a color that you can live with for a long time.

The olive is a little brighter than it looks in the picture.

Two Compartments are weird

Burton Ak Guide Glove - Women's

Burton Ak Guide Glove - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 March 4, 2011

I'm a big fan of AK and the description on this glove sounded good - so I thought I would give it a go. As promised, the AK performance (waterproof/breathability) will not let you down. But the dual chamber fleece liner is kind of weird. I had high hopes for it - but I wouldn't describe the outer sleeve as offering any more dexterity than you would have otherwise. I dont think that is is "dexterous" enough to mess with jacket zippers... That said, the warmer compartment, is quite warm.

The glove cuff is very low profile and goes under jacket sleeves easily which is nice.

One year later

Burton Ion Snowboard Boot - Men's - 09/10

Burton Ion Snowboard Boot - Men's - 09/10

Rating for this product: 4 March 4, 2011

FYI - for anyone that has these boots - I have had mine for a year (about 60 days on them - including touring). I have always had a problem with my feet going numb when my bindings are tight. If I'm just walking around, they're fine - obviously this is a problem. I finally figured out that it was the soles. They don't offer enough support - so when the bindings are tight, my foot was flattened out. I bought some super feet and took out the Burton soles. It's like a whole new boot. The pain and foot cramping is gone and it stopped my heel slipping issues too. I love these boots - they're awesome. But I would highly recommend switching out the soles.

Gnu B-Pro C2BTX Snowboard - Women's

February 2, 2011

I have last years C2btx - it is virtually the same as this years. It isn't completely effortless in powder - but it floats nicely (no back leg burn). It's great in the trees. This board is quick edge to edge - so whipping through trees is fun. This board is SUPER responsive - almost to the point of unforgiving. And you will appreciate the magnetraction on dust on crust days... I have not noticed any chatter - ever (the c2 shape pretty much eliminates chatter). But if you're regularly going 45-50 mph - then you may want something A LOT stiffer than this.

Smith Maze Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 December 10, 2010

I am on my second Maze (the first one saved my life when I hit some rocks in a remote area of Chile over the summer). I considered going back to the Holt - but I returned it. You just cant beat this helmet! It's light, comfortable, and fits great.

Smith Maze Helmet

December 10, 2010

I think they fit OK. Pull up the goggle strap on the helmet so that it pulls the gaper gap closed... This helmet is the best. And Crowbars are awesome. So it's worth it to have that slighly imperfect alignment...

Gnu B-Pro C2BTX Snowboard - Women's

December 10, 2010

Last year they had the B-Pro in C2BTX and in BTX. This year they have decided to only offer C2BTX. It also may be a tad softer... Otherwise - it's the same.

Cilla Missy Top - Women's

Cilla Missy Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 December 10, 2010

I think Cilla is totally onto something with the waterproof band. Not only does it keep snow from going up your jacket/down your pants - but it also adds a little warmth and adds great style. This top is the best. It is warm - yet moisture wicking. The hood is awesome and the draw string at the bottom is nice too. At the end of the day, pair this with some leggings... I'm quickly phasing out all my old base layers and replacing them with Cilla. Love it!

Gnu B-Nice BTX Series Snowboard - Women's

December 1, 2010

This board will be a little more forgiving than the BPro (the combination of flex and camber profile make it less likely for you to catch an edge). The B Nice has a softer flex (which is not as good for going really fast or riding really steep stuff). It also has BTX which is banana rocker - while the BPro has C2BTX (cambered tip and tail with rocker under foot). The C2BTX adds a little pop but can also make your edges a little more catchy. Overall - the B Nice is going to be fun and easy to ride - it will be a good park board - or a good board to learn/improve your skills on. The BPro is more for hard charging and going big.

Cilla Lexi Top - Women's

Cilla Lexi Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 November 29, 2010

This hoody is really comfortable. And I agree, it does breathe pretty well. I have worked out in it - and for chilly days it is nice.

The cut is cute - but not really the most flattering. But I really appreciate the style and length.

Good for everything

Cilla Jane Pant - Women's

Cilla Jane Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 29, 2010

These pants are really comfortable. Warm. Cute. Perfect! I've worn them for snowboarding, shopping, climbing, running, sleeping... Get them. They're not the warmest base layer but I wore them under my shell pants with the Cilla June top on a 10 degree day and was just fine (the length on the June top adds a little extra warmth).

Perfect for everything!

Cilla June Pullover - Women's

Cilla June Pullover - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 29, 2010

I'm obsessed with Cilla stuff. It's so great! The June top is so functional. It's warm and quick drying. I use it all the time in the backcountry - and in bounds for a little added style. The waterproof band keeps snow out of your pants and keeps you warm. This base layer is definitely worth the money.

Fun!

Jones Snowboards The Mountain Twin Snowboard

Jones Snowboards The Mountain Twin Snowboard

Rating for this product: 5 November 14, 2010

Took this board out to Snowbird yesterday - and it was fun! I have had my eye on this board for a while because I prefer this camber profile and wanted mag (I currently have a Gnu with c2btx and a Prior AMF split which has the same camber profile as the Jones - I love the prior but always wished it had mag - The Jones is my ideal board). My only concern with this one was whether it would be as stiff as I wanted. Turns out it's not that stiff (I would agree with the medium flex designation). But what it lacks in stiffness it makes up for in fun. This thing is as poppy as a rocker board is going to get. It butters like a dream. Spins like it was made to do it. It is pretty forgiving. Turn initiation is a breeze. The base is FAST! The board is light (threw some Burton C60s on it). There really isn't any adjustment period with this board - I threw it on and threw it down the first run. Will probably have to bust out a stiffer ride for the big lines. But this is a great all mountain jib board!

I would say the board description on the Jones website and here will give you an accurate idea of what to expect.

Burton AK Lagger Hybrid Insulator Jacket - Women's - 09/10

Burton AK Lagger Hybrid Insulator Jacket - Women's - 09/10

Rating for this product: 3 November 14, 2010

I got this jacket in Blue. It looks awesome and it's really comfortable. I love the length. Seems to run a little small around the chest and hips. I got this jacket for touring/hiking as I have the ArcTeryx Atom - which is super warm but not very breathable. This jacket is very breathable - but not very warm. It doesn't even shed water a little bit - so don't wear it out if it's raining/snowing. Overall - it's a good mid layer that breathes really well.
