Nixon The Lodown TI Watch - Men's

Hi Leah,
I have the Nixon Super Hero SS tide watch (http://www.dogfunk.com/snowboard/Nixon-Super-Hero-II-SS-Watch-Mens/NIX0537M.html) and it has the same 200 preset beaches as the Lodown. I was living in Cape Cod, MA when I purchased the watch and like you I had reservations about whether one of 200 international surf breaks would make the cut. Well, it turns out it did not...but it really did not matter. There were three beaches within a fairly close distance (a beach in NH, Nantucket Island and a beach in RI). All I did was look online at local tide charts and find the variance in minutes between the exact tide at my beach versus a nearby beach and referenced that beach. It turned out it was only a few minutes behind in time so instead of my exact high/low tide being at noon for example, it was at 12:03pm. Pretty easy fix. Not to mention that it takes quite some time for the tide to actually turn so three minutes (or even 30 for that matter) is not a very big deal at most breaks.

I have traveled internationally with that watch and have used the tide function all over the globe. It is MUCH easier to just reference famous beach's tides rather than trying to calculate out every single place you intend to use it.

So in conclusion, I actually preferred the preset tides even though it initially took about 5 minutes to get dialed in on my present location.

Hope that helps!!!

I have these in the Black Blue Gel frames with the Gray Fade lenses and they are fan-friggin'-tastic. I always get compliments on them. They have big lenses north-to-south without being overly wide east-to-west. Everyone wants to try them on when they see them. Fun fashion.

The BEST watch I have ever owned...

Nooka Zub Zot 38 Watch

Nooka Zub Zot 38 Watch

Rating for this product: 5 September 1, 2009

I have this watch in gray. It is amazing how many people notice its unique face and want to know more. Case and point; the other day I was grabbing a sandwich for lunch from a local eatery when the women noticed my watch. At first she thought it was a phone, but that is another story. She had to touch it, figure out the time and date telling method (and I was not allowed to tell her how it works), try it on (and she even went in the back to look in the mirror with it on her arm), and had to know where I purchased it. It draws that much positive attention! I was concerned about the clasp mechanism as it is much different from any other watch I have ever owned, but it is far more comfortable and reliable. I REALLY like this watch and I now I wear it everyday.

Nooka Zub Zot 38 Watch

August 12, 2009

This is a unisex watch that fits both men and women. One of my co-workers has a very similar Nooka watch (female) and I have this very watch in gray (male). Check out this interview with the owner/designer of Nooka for an in depth look at their product and an explanation how many women buy this type of banded watch as a fashion bangle piece. http://vimeo.com/5798518

This hat is super burly and warm! I have worn this thing in sub-zero temps and my noggin' stays toasty. Not a techy hat by any means, but if you want some ridiculous style points, want some Randys handy, and want to stay toasty...this sucker will do the trick!

Time Teller PU

Nixon Time Teller P Watch

Nixon Time Teller P Watch

Rating for this product: 5 June 25, 2009

First of all, this is a basic PU watch that "only" tells the time. There is no altimeter so if you are heading up Denali this is probably not the watch for you. Nor is there 200 beaches worth of preprogrammed tide data for the next 50 years. This is just a fun, dope watch. If you want a colorful poppy watch (I have the Rubine/Yellow/Blue colorway)that you will get lots of compliments on and that kills it, this is the one. If you want a techy multipurpose watch, this is not the one.

Nixon Outsider Watch - Men's

June 16, 2009

In response to "KOROSURF" statement that this watch "Needs Tide data for 200 beaches then it would be sick"...it is coming. For the Holiday 2009 season this watch will have a big brother..."The Outsider Tide." And per your request, this watch will have "pre-programmed tide information for 200 beaches for the next 15 years." (from the Holiday 2009 Nixon catalog).

In conclusion, ask and you shall receive...

Nixon Master Blaster Headphone = A+

Nixon Master Blaster Headphone

Nixon Master Blaster Headphone

Rating for this product: 5 June 10, 2009

First of all, the style is dope as hell. They are definitely big, but have have super clean lines and are extremely well made with leather and metal. They should stand the test of time. I find them to be extremely comfortable, even wearing them all day. I sit at a desk at work and am able to passively block out about 70% of ambient noise just based on the great over-the-ear fit that these headphones provide. The volume control over the right ear is a great idea, totally functional, and extremely convenient. For anyone who plugs their headphones into a jack/input that is not easily in reach or that needs to fluctuate volume often it is a HUGE convenience to quickly and effortlessly change the volume with a quick twist of the dial on the right ear. As for the most important part of any headphone, the sound quality, these do not disappoint. I realize that 2 bills might scare a few people away from these, but anyone in the market for high end studio quality headphones would agree that these are very competitively priced and in my opinion are equal or better than much of the competition. Not to mention they look much better in my opinion. The bass is thumping, but not at the expense of the mid and high range. It is a very "full" sounding headphone that pays respects to the entire tonal range without just trying to play to the lowest common denominator: the bass. I would strongly recommend these to anyone looking for a sick, well made headphone that stands out from the crowd.

I really like this hat...but be forewarned, it fits like a "skully"...not like a "tall boy." If you are looking for a bigger steezed out fit, look at the Coal Frena. If you want a tight-fitting head-hugger, this is your hat.

These suits definitely turn up the steez dial to overdrive and kick up your style level to the Nth degree. The 10K waterproof rating helps keep the steez and the tech as one. I really dig the Forest and Urban Camo color ways. The fit is super loose and cozy...like your mother's womb...minus all of the nasty juices.

This jacket is both stylish and functional. Not only does it boast 15K waterproofness, but with all of the pockets and cable routing options it holds all of my gear and then some. I really like the iPod pocket. The inside all-over print turns heads too and gets noticed.

Atmosphere Mandate Jacket...the new steez...

Atmosphere Mandate Snowboard Jacket - Men's

Atmosphere Mandate Snowboard Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 10, 2008

Atmosphere has one of the freshest looks out there right now. It is dope to see a smaller company outperforming (on the steezy scale that is) some of the larger ones and still maintaining a low profile. Don't expect them to stay "underground" for long though as their outerwear collection is mad tight. This is my favorite jacket by Atmosphere...PERIOD! The Tosh color way with the Marley pants in the Blood color is ill. Word to the wise...this stuff runs huge! We are talking Tech-Nine suburban gangsta tall-tee huge...

Burton One Piece...Sick...

Burton One-Piece - Men's

Burton One-Piece - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 28, 2008

I just got the black pinstripe color way and this thing is ill. The picture on this site does a pretty poor job of actually showing the pinstripes, but in person they are there and they are dope. In fact, I would say this looks about 10X better in person then on the site.

Like the previous reviewer mentioned these run roomy...like super steezy roomy. I am 6'2" and thin (about 160 lbs.) and the large is great for the length, but i could have used a medium for the girth. I haven't yet had a chance to pimp it in the snow, but I am sure with the 10K rating this thing will not only perform, but also look good doing it. SEND IT!

This is a dope hoody. As expected this hoody fits quite big. i am 6'2" and about a 160lbs and the large is huge. It is super comfy and I find myself throwing it on when I get home to chill in. Like the previous review states it is a half zip (henly style) with a huge kangaroo pocket with zippers on either end to keep your hands toasty and your valuables protected.
