Volcom Stoney Gore-Tex Jacket - Men's

Volcom Stoney Gore-Tex Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 13, 2010

My last volcom jacket has seen me through a couple of seasons and a shed load of travelling around. It's still going strong but I wanted a more techy jacket in a louder colour than black. I also want a jacket to zip to my burton AK pants which Volcom does although I think Burton might be changing their designs for the 2011 season? This new jacket arrived yesterday and while it's the wrong time of year for shredding any sort of snow, I wore it to an outdoor world cup match last night and was toasty as.

The colours (blue one) are slightly lighter than shown in the dogfunk pics which seem to have a lot of shadow on them. Face mask seems to be an effective and clever design, and the XL size is nice and baggy (I'm 6ft3 and 90 kg).

Sorry folks if that's not a totally helpful review but I've had plenty of jackets in my 12 years of riding and this is a top one. I'm taking it to British Columbia, AK and Chamonix in the next couple of years so we'll see how it holds up but from my previous experience with Volcom, I shouldn't have any probs.

Overall, stylish, comfortable, functional and breathable.

Never Summer SL 164

Never Summer SL Snowboard

Never Summer SL Snowboard

Rating for this product: 4 March 20, 2008

After a poor snow season, I've been getting annoyed at how quickly Burton stuff breaks! My second custom X lasted about 15 days before it had countless core shots and three edge breaks. Admittedly, I was hitting some rocks and riding hard at Kicking Horse, BC, but I can't afford to buy a new board every month - I'm in my third straight winter and plan to go straight to New Zealand and then back to Canada. I'm a level 2 instructor so ride quite aggressively and needed an all mountain freestyle board to support this and last for a good length of time. The SL is stiffer than my custom X and carves all the better for it, great all over the mountain: trees, steeps, airs, park and backcountry kickers. It feels tougher while still be relatively lightweight and has a nice flex for butters and ollies and aggressive rebound for advanced riding. My only concern is that the maximum stance width is a few inches too narrow - I'm used to Ride and Burton boards with super wide solid stances (I'm 6ft 3).
