Great concept that actually works

Flow NXT AT Snowboard Binding

Flow NXT AT Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 5 March 8, 2010

Moving from my Burtons to these due to back surgery and an inability to now sit an reach forward to crank the bindings. I tried the K2 cinch straps and broke them on run three so I was a little apprehensive about these. I got mine and noted they appeared to have higher quality construction than the K2s and many more adjustments. I had read patience is key. I set mine up on my LibTech Skunk Ape, and hit the mountain. They have independant real ratchets to crank down all four strap locales so this is a real improvement form other models I have seen. The actual strap thing is like an I Beam shape and is very comfortable on the foot. I had no pressure points at all. I slid my foot in the blink of an eye and locked the high back and took off, all from a stand. They were not set quite forward enough yet but the ride was very solid, and short of the forward lean I was surprised how nice they worked. I made some more adjustments and got them as responsive as my Burtons had been. They held solid through the jumps and bumps, and speeds, and less bend and reach was a real plus. I experimented with how to solve complaints that if you need to stop along the steeps and get in them you can't. Not true. You can dig in the toe edge hard, and slip in if your balance is good. if it is not you simply drop to your knees and slip your foot in lock the highback push up and go. You totally avoid ever needing to sit on your arse and stretch then do the wild roll over twist and push up. Saves time, torque and stretch of the back. A real plus for me so I can still ride. I must say I am a full convert now these things are brilliant.

Great boots

Vans Encore Snowboard Boot

Vans Encore Snowboard Boot

Rating for this product: 5 February 1, 2010

Got the wild bad brains yellow versions. True to fit perhaps a 1/4 size smallish before breaking in which is how frankly I think they ought to be....nothing sux worse than a loose fitting boot. They broke in well, good flex, boa is very fast twist a few times and off and running. So far so goof very happy with them this season.

Lib Technologies Skunk Ape MTX Snowboard - Wide

Rating for this product: 5 January 22, 2010

Have the BTX in 165. It's the shit. Easiest wide board I have ever been on. Turns so dang easy and really does hold an edge through crud, ice, whatever...thrilled to death with it.

Giro Revolver Helmet

Giro Revolver Helmet

Rating for this product: 4 January 22, 2010

Nice helmet with three padding options and mix and match to customize fit. Warm but vented fairly well. Ridge on front makes having goggles up a pain as tehy always pop up and dangle...but overall a good helmet.

Cool warm mask

Neff Ammo Mask

Neff Ammo Mask

Rating for this product: 4 January 22, 2010

Lined with fleece outside is some vinyl like waterproof material. Very warm and dry unlike my others. Only downside was it hardens up when the temps drop. Minor issue though overall.

Good idea bad design

K2 Cinch CTS Snowboard Binding

K2 Cinch CTS Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 2 January 18, 2010

Liked the concept a lot coming off back surgery and tiring of sitting on my a@$ to do bindings. Unfortunately early in their first day of use (3rd run) the cable guide snapped and rendered theme useless. it turns out it may look like metal but it is plastic. It is under some stresses as it takes some strength to pull these shut and locked and in closing them I heard pop and there it lay in two pieces. Cool idea, but flawed materials idea....suppose they went plastic to counter weight complaints. Sent mine back got my refund and put back on my Burtons and called it a day.
