  • Hood:

    Bear Valley, CA
  • Bio:

Been riding twenty-odd years, worked for Avalanche Snowboards building bindings, worked as the retail guy for a Nor Call Resort and I like to ride as much as possible. The current quiver consists of:

    09 161 Uninc with Uninc EST's
09 160 Fish with Cartel EST's (running these baseless)
    08 166 Malolo with C02's
    08 162 T6 with C02's
    08 156 JJ with Triad EST's

I have quite a few more boards in the collection as well.

When not on a board I'm all about Mt biking.

I've been a Fish owner for years and I rode an older 156 Fish HD before picking up an 09 160 Fish with S-Rocker. I have to say, the difference is incredible. Insane float, crazy maneuverability, unmatched stability and even tolerable performance on groomers. If you can afford to make the investment in a powder specific board (just because I said it was tolerable on groomers doesn't mean you want this as your only board) you really can't go wrong with this board. Definitely think of the terrain you ride most often. If you mostly find yourself in tight glade situations then the 156 will rule your world. If you seek out big open bowls and stupidly fast speeds than the 160 is the bees-knees.

I can't say enough good things about this board.

I have to start with saying, this isn't a board for everyone. It's stiff and it's powerful and the Alumnafly core definitely feels unlike anything you've ever ridden. But if you have the skill and drive to really ride this board the way it needs to be ridden it is one of the most rewarding experiences you'll have on a board. I've ridden this board as my every day, every condition board for years and it's amazing. It's response is such that you'll think it reads your mind and it's edge hold and power are so tenacious you'll scratch your head at the bottom of your line wondering "how did I do that?"

Fun is the best word to describe this board

Super fun and playful. Seems to have the right balance of pop and buttery goodness which delivers a board that turns the whole mountain into a park. I wouldn't go to this board on a pow day and I wouldn't try to keep up with my skier friends on an icy day but for soft days in the park or hunting for natural terrain features to play on, you really can't go wrong with this board.
