DVS Yodeler Boot - Men's
December 12, 2012
Just got these sickies and am in love! A little torn though because these will make great Snowskate boots, but they're so stylish that I don't want to destroy them on the mountain just yet. The Gusset allows me to rock loose laces and slip these bad boy's on and off easily. It'll also help keep the snow out.
I highly recommend these!

Chanman,
Good eye, you are correct.
The Horsepower = 100% basalt Fibers + 90% Columbian Gold wood core is not on this board. It does utilize the Axis Inverted Fiberglass as well as the H-Pop wood core, so you still get lots of POP, but at a more affordable price.

Quiksilver Outrider Short - Men's

Well, the description states that they are 19", but they are actually a 22" inseam, so they will fit a typical, longer length. The shorts tend to fit a little snug around the waste if that's what you're wondering, so buy on the larger size and with this short you'll be set even if you forget your belt because of the waistband adjuster built in!

Gnu Carbon Credit Series BTX Snowboard
March 28, 2012
At 182 Lbs, I would suggest going with the 156 as the smallest size. The core is profiled to be a little thinner in the smaller size to accommodate that persons spec's. The 153 would be fun, but more susceptible to breaking. Besides, the 156 has BTX (Banana Tech & Magnetraction) which almost makes it like you're cheating when it comes to jibbing!

If you chose the Carbon Credit, I can promise you wont be disappointed! The C.C. has some of the most value in it out of the entire Mervin Mfg. lineup! Some people think its more a beginner board because of the price, but it is so much more. It actually has a sintered base, magnetraction and an all aspen wood core. The board is a great all around board (mid flex & true twin) that is affordable and hand built in the USA by people who love to snowboard! How can you go wrong there?

Hey Ian,
I rode the 147 and the 157 back to back and to be honest, I had more fun on the 147. This board was always designed to be a little board for big people. (I'm 6'3" 174lb)
I'd go for the 151, but keep in mind that the board will be more specific to freestyle/jibbing and less all around riding at that size.

Gnu B-Pro C2BTX Snowboard - Women's
December 27, 2011
Yeah, that's the boards starting point. Intermediate to advanced. The C2 is usually geared toward someone who's riding more often and it's a little less forgiving, but may be more responsive. The board is on the stiffer side for women, which correlates with more aggressive riding typically. Gnu also used higher end materials (wood core, fiberglass, base material) than the other models, which someone who puts a lot of days on the hill will appreciate.
If you're still a little concerned, another good suggestion would be the Gnu Women's Park Pickle. That's a perfect intermediate board.
Happy riding!

Gnu Park Pickle BTX Snowboard
December 27, 2011
That depends on your weight. The Banana design is like cheating for doing tail/nose presses, so, I would say it is easier. The flex is meant to be right there in the middle so it can ride all the different types of terrain. Medium soft for park/rails and medium stiff for groomers/pipe/trees/freeride.
Really good all-around kind of snowboard that loves to turn.

175lbs? go for the 156. The Banana will make it very jibbable and the size will give you some more stability for the jumps. You shouldn't have a problem flexin it out at 175lbs.

The best thing to do is actually measure your head. If not, maybe you know your hat size for New Era.
7 1/4 = Small 7 3/8 = Medium 7 1/2 = Large 7 5/8 = X-large.
That may be a little off, but a nice thin skullcap will help make up the difference without sacrificing the performance.

The jacket is not insulated. It is rated at an 8K waterproofing/Breathability. I would recommend this jacket for dryer climates like the Rocky mountains, but it will suffice in the Sierra's and east coast. Avoid the Wetter areas like Washington. As far as temperature goes, it's nice to have a shell so you can add or subtract layers as needed for to adjust for the weather.

The Magnetraction is what we call the serrated edge. It's the equivalent of having snow tires on your vehicle. you hit that unexpected patch of ice and instead of crashing, you ride it out. Mervin Mfg that makes these boards won over 10 Transworld Good Wood awards with this design on every board. Not to mention the many, many other awards from previous seasons.
My advice it to de-tune each of the 7 contact points (per side) so the board releases from a turn easier. That means to file down the sharpness of the edge at every high-point just a bit.
You will be happy the board has the serrated edge, it's pretty much what makes the C2 Banana tech work as well as it does!

Gnu Carbon Credit Series BTX Snowboard
November 29, 2011
Banana tech floats great in powder! You can even size down with it for a more maneuverable board. The differences between this and the skate banana are the materials used and the geometries. They may both have BTX, but they are totally different boards. The similarities are their medium rated flex which make the board great for all around riding and they are true twin.
Dirty Pillow is in a class of it's own. True Twin freestyle Powder riding. Great for powder days at your local resort, but a very specific type of riding, not an all around, do anything kind of board.
The Carbon Credit is a great board with a lot of value built into it. Not a beginner's board, but a great board for someone on a budget. Transworld Good Wood winner!

Lib Technologies TRS C2 BTX Slims Snowboard - Narrow
September 26, 2011
The C2 on the east coast is great, the shape directs the energy into the center of the board where your center of gravity is, thus giving you more control and a faster edge-to-edge.
The base is actually a dual-layered base with a sintered layer and a fluro-polymer layer which increases speed and reduces the amount of waxing needed.
So actually the base is NOT simply extruded.
The flex for the size you are asking about is specific to lighter weight riders, ideally a female but not specifically one. The flex should be around a 4 to 4.5.
As for the Rossi Diva, I have heard great things, but being a male, have not had the opportunity to ride. Personally, I would always opt for the board that has magnetraction, the best innovation to ever be applied to a snowboard, and makes rocker boards work to their fullest potential.
thanks & happy shredding!!

Gnu Riders Choice C2BTX Snowboard - Wide
March 2, 2011
The Riders choice is the board that is developed by the team riders to best suit their needs, IE high speeds and big jumps. This board has a medium flex that makes it suitable for jibing and fun riding, but it also has C2 to give it the stiffness at the tips and tails needed for the bigger stuff.
The only thing to watch out for is if you're on a 156 now, maybe size down rather than up. Again, that depends on your weight and height and if you're focusing more on big/fast/backcountry now.

February 7, 2011
The Skate Banana is a go everywhere, do everything kind of board. Make sure you get one of the wides and might I suggest the 159 since you're about my size/weight. Pipe boards are usually a little on the stiffer side, but the banana is considered to be a bit softer. The wide/159 should make up the extra stiffness that you'll want for pipe riding. Banana teck will alleviate the sluggish turning feeling traditional wide boards have, which is good all around. The magnetraction on the Skate banana is what set's Mervins "rocker" boards apart form all other rocker boards on the market. Dull the edges so you can jib rails/boxes and you'll still be able to hold a solid edge in the half pipe!! MAGNETRACTION!! I have some friends that slide sideways on the Ride DH board, and they love it too, so happy hunting!
