Ride EX Snowboard Binding

February 6, 2010

Think about this--- Isn't a snowboard designed to be "warped"? We just call it a different name, "flex". That tech hasn't thought about it at all! Now, as Union (and Forum) claims there may be a little more dead board space when using bindings that don't have a split baseplate (Forum Shaka) or specially shaped baseplate (Union). But have a look at the EX baseplate and look at how rounded and removed the edges are. They do that to allow enough room for the board to flex in its natural arc and also to prevent cracking.
ALSO, consider that the Unions are not just a standard binding with foam glued onto its baseplate. EVERYTHING is considered in the design and engineering to make it perform well but also to keep it SAFE. If you want the Union feel then get Union bindings, someone would undoubtedly buy your EX from you. cheers...

Ride EX Snowboard Binding

No problem with the ankle straps on mine. As you are riding just keep in mind that your boot is flexing the entire time and will pack-in throughout the day, so you will have to tighten the straps at times, maybe even during a run--- that's just a part of it, unfortunately. cheers!

OH, yes, you gotta go with Large! I wear Ride Jackson boots in a size 10 and they go together like PB and J--- perfectly! Without question the XL would be too big...

Ride EX Snowboard Binding

Ride EX Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 4 February 6, 2010

Picked up these 2010 Ride EX bindings for my K2 Turbo Dream and they are a superb combination. I love the ease of on-hill adjustment (no tools) and set-up. Only one gripe--- the bolts that attach the heel cup to the chassis constantly loosened up the first 5 times up the hill. The same thing happened to my wife's 2010 Ride VXN bindings which are the women's version. After a day of riding we'd have to crank it all back together as tightly as possible but after the next time up everything had settled again and we'd repeat the process. It seems now, however, that all has broken in and settled just fine.
I fully understand that gear needs time to settle in BUT as someone who has been riding a long time and has tried various brands/models this seemed excessive. Luckily I know to check my gear and have the tools to make the adjustments...
SO, I fully recommend these bindings in terms of feel and responsiveness--- they are bad-ass! But be aware that you will need to tighten the hell out of these things after a full day's shredding, atleast after the first several times up.

Super bindings

Burton Mission Snowboard Binding - 09/10

Burton Mission Snowboard Binding - 09/10

Rating for this product: 5 November 13, 2009

Have ridden the 2007 model for the past couple seasons and have been very impressed with the durability and comfort of them. I found the flex to be just about right for my style of riding which is hitting every hip I can, lots of drops, speeding through trees, steeps, etc. I only occasionally hit the park so I can't speak for its performance there too much. But if you want a nice binding with good adjustability and comfort then consider these. I did have a couple loose screws which were easily remedied with Teflon tape.

Great Beginner to Intermediate boot

Burton Moto Snowboard Boot - Men's - 09/10

Burton Moto Snowboard Boot - Men's - 09/10

Rating for this product: 5 November 13, 2009

On my second pair of Motos and have had no problems. Good for the beginner that isn't sure what they are looking for in a boot and doesn't want to drop a lot of money first time 'round. Durable and comfortable for the intermediate rider that's gonna push the limits in all-day sessions. Fits true to size and i found the lacing to be reliable, though, as with most boots you'll have to re-tighten them at some point which is super easy with this lacing style.
