  • Hood:

Idaho: Bogus, Tamarack, Brundage, Sun Valley, the Backcountry... I've ridden in Park City, Clark Mountain, Copper, Jackson Hole...
  • Bio:

Been boarding since I was 4 yrs old. Joined the Army and switched to skis for a few years just to experience this whole newschool movement and learn something new... besides it was gettin hard to keep up with my Hospital Bills from boarding. I'm enjoying skiing, but I'll always be a boarder at heart... everybody who hates on skiing should give it a shot. It's just another way to get down the mountain and into the emergency room.

This way you can see how it fits... this one is XL and I usually wear L, but I bought it for skiing and boarding, so I bought it big.

Perfect All-Around Jacket

Volcom Shatter Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 14, 2009

I travel between Idaho and Illinois, so I'm used to temperatures ranging between -45 and 50 (spring boarding in ID). This jacket will keep you warm in subzero temps if you layer up properly. I was perfectly comfortable just standing around in -7 degrees with this jacket and underarmour, but the loose fit allows for substantial layering. Also, the venting on this jacket allows it to breathe when the temps shoot up, or your working hard building jumps, jibs, setting rails, or hiking the back-country (all of which I've done with this jacket). Just open the vents, loosen the cuffs, open the front zipper and use the velcro and you could run a marathon in it. Overall, it's an amazing jacket and you can't beat the price or the fact that it's volcom. I can't find the pass pocket, though. If anybody finds it, just let me know haha.

Volcom Shatter Jacket - Men's

December 14, 2009

I have this jacket and we've had temps ranging from -7 to 38 this week. This jacket is light enough for use in warmer temps, plus the underarm venting makes it easy to cool down. If you get too warm, it's easy to unzip the vents, open up the cuffs, and use the velcro (instead of the zipper)to fasten the jacket. When you do this, the jacket breathes like you wouldn't believe. Hope this was helpful.

Volcom Shatter Jacket - Men's

December 14, 2009

It's more of a midweight jacket... I bought it a size up so I can layer underneath it, but it's also light enough for higher temps. It has underarm venting with zippers to close it off when it's cold.
