Not too heavy - not too light - not too casual - not too dressy. I gave this to my 19 year old son for those somewhat chilly winter evenings at his southern college. I originally ordered him a LARGE, but when it arrived - even though the length worked - the shoulders looked pretty narrow, so I ordered an XL as an option. Good move - he opted for the XL. He is 6'5 and 190 lbs. with an athletic build. Score one for mom!
