686 gear runs big in length and waist. Our size chart lists size Medium as a 34 max waist, but I have seen bigger dudes fit Mediums. Depending on your waist size, you might be able to rock a Medium-- they will still give you the length you need. A large will definitely fit you just fine but they won't be too slim.
