i don't really like the baggy fit. i'm 5'8 and 170 should I order a small or a medium?

I would suggest you go for the medium. I feel the small would be too small for your arms, unless you have short arms then you could got with a small. If you are really worried about the bagginess, take a look at the Doug jacket.
